"Didn't Work for Blu-Ray"
Version: ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 5.0.1.87
Pros
it installed ok. Seemed to start playing and then kept freezing
Cons
Wouldn't play my blu-ray movie.
Summary
After this I uninstalled it and installed Cyberlink PowerDVD and it played my Blu-ray disc flawlessly. I really wanted to find an alternative to Cyberlink for Blu-ray, bet this software clearly couldn't cut it.

"Best Player Available Today"
Version: ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 5.0.1.86
Pros
Only software player to play blu-ray discs from hard drive.
Cons
Trial will not play DVD's that include dolby ac3, which is just about every DVD ever made including DVD's people make themselves.

"A Blu ray player that works!"
Version: ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 5.0.1.86
Pros
It actually works, unlike PowerDVD DX. Plays Blu rays smoothly. Sound is crisp. Interface isn't too complicated.
Cons
It's not free, but what is these days. I have not gone into all the details of this player yet, so I will let you know more later.
Summary
I was looking for a blu ray player for my laptop that actually worked. My pc came with PowerDVD DX which never worked from day one. I am happy with the trial version of TotalMedia Theatre and plan on buying it once the trial ends. I am just a simple end-user who is not looking for some complex player that can run all the features on blu rays, so I have not gotten into all the details of this product. A more experienced and sophisticated user might think otherwise, but if you are looking for a player that can actually play your blu rays, then this software works.

"Too sensitive to other software running"
Version: ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 5.0.1.80
Pros
Never got that far. The splash screen looks pretty.
Cons
Doesn't even start if one of several types of conflicting software is installed.
Summary
After installing the software on Windows XP and rebooting, starting TotalMedia Theatre causes the splash screen to hang indefinitely. In the background, the program chews up 25% of constant CPU time with no I/O attempted.
According to their support forum, there are many reasons why TMT will "conflict" with several types of anti-virus software, debugger software, virtualization software, keyboard input software, etc. I tried stopping and uninstalling a few applications to appease TMT, but eventually gave up and uninstalled it.
I'm sure ArcSoft has a valid reason for being so sensitive to other software running on a system, but for me, the benefit of this $100 DVD playing software was not worth the need to dismantle your operating system. -
"Much better than Cyberlink DVD10"
Version: ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 5 5.0.1.80
Pros
Finally being able to zoom in to take out the black bars...did I mention I REALLY REALLY dislike the black bars top and bottom of my Blu-ray movies. I paid to use all of the real estate on my screen.
Plays Avatar extended collectors edition. :-)Cons
As with all computer blu-ray software lately it takes ages to start.
