"I have used ArcSoft for years and just upgraded to Win7"
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0.0.170
Pros
I used Photo Studio with my Canon 880 scanner and it works wonderfully. The photos are almost better then the original. I let my brother use it and he hand never ween a piece of software/hardware work so well. I wouldn't change a thing
Cons
I do not have any cons for Photo Studio
Summary
It's a great piece of software. I glad I could upgrade it to Windows 7. It works great.

"Great, Once"
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
Was great.
Cons
No longer great.
Summary
Not only was the old version (4.0, I think) excellent, it was free. 6.0 charges you ($70.00) for an inferior product. If you really just need a "PhotoShop Light," search around for another free alternative - there're plenty out there.

"v6 ruins a great product!"
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
One or two nice tools lacking in Photosh*p
Cons
Some nice tools from v5 ditched!
Very slow
Crashy!
Dubious vendor behaviourSummary
Been a long-term user of v5 - how I WISH I could reinstall that old version. It worked like a dream - whereas v6 is a bit of a disaster. v5 was actually my programme of choice for photo editing, it was a beaut!
Since upgrading, the performance (which I never noticed before) is appallingly slow. Opening a decent sized file might take minutes now instead of seconds. Quite why this is I cannot comprehend. The user session also gets progressively slower and you need to exit and restart periodically to keep things moving. Again, this just didn't happen before.
Some terrible bugs - for instance, if your marquee goes outside the current field of view (say when drawing around a large object), a fairly standard thing to do, it will CRASH every time - nothing more infuriating.
Saving files can be very slow - not unusual to sit staring at Windows Task Manager for minutes on end waiting for it to churn through the gears.
Full Screen view - a really neat feature in v5 - has disappeared - why? The ability to flip individual layers to a mirror image - again disappeared, why??
Colour editing is much worse than before - particularly handling of red tones, subtracting red tones leaves nasty artefacts all over the image, this didn't happen before!!
Last but not least - thanks guys, you updated red-eye removal to make it "automatic", presumably some kind of dumbing down. Problem is, it MISSES red eye every single time. "Red eye was not detected". OK no problem, use the manual red eye tool. But unbelievably, there is no manual option. Something I would expect to see as a basic.
Just as the icing on the cake - Arcsoft will put all sorts of hidden processes running in the background eg. auto updaters, auto-checkers-for-auto-updaters, tamper with these at your peril - I did and it killed my license key!
Very disappointing - can we have v5 back please? -

"CAN NOT UNINSTALL"
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
Unknown .
Cons
Can not uninstall. No option to uninstall in program; nothing happens when using Control Panel Uninstall; does not show up in Windows Install Clean-up. If ArcSoft philosophy is to force it on you, I do not want it.
Summary
Installation is irreversible.

Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
Easy to use & not complicated; many photo editing tools; Auto Enhance automatically optimizes images perfectly; Face Beautify works well on faces; compatible with some photoshop plugins
Cons

-
"Can't Uninstall"
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
none that I can see of
Cons
won't uninstall
Summary
Is there a trick to uninstalling? No uninstall process shows up, and in various program, it doesn't even show up as an installed program. I think I have 3.0, on the box, but says 5.x.x.x when I hit 'about'. Not sure I ever registered, but I did buy at Staples.

""Next best thing to photoshop." That's right."
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
Easy to use, comprehesive set of tools.
Cons
I made the mistake of upgrading from from v5.5 which is just as good.
Summary
Despite making a full payment, this reverted to a trial edition after a few days.
No reply to email.
Very disappointed. -
"Next best thing to photoshop."
Version: ArcSoft PhotoStudio 6.0
Pros
I used this FREE with ME product since 2000 to easily change the liighting and definition, color tone , saturation, lowlights and highlights of old family photographs and 100 year old collectible postcards. It is like setting up a color TV.
Cons
It isn't free anymore.
Summary
They have a 20 dollar discount right now, I'm going to have to jump on it.
I/ve already tried it out on 7, works just like it used to on the old machine. Of course, the trial version won't let you save at full resolution.
