This word-based game simultaneously entertains while enhancing verbal skills. In Aqua Words, the goal is to earn points by linking contiguous letters to form words. The game s Time mode makes you play against the clock, while the Strategy option lets you work at your own pace. In Arcade mode, you must keep the board from overflowing by creating words quicker than the game drops in new letters. The game has a tropical-island theme and seems primarily aimed at children, as is evidenced by the small blue creature that stands next to the board and sips fruity drinks. And while we think adults might find the game semichallenging, the application s lack of difficulty levels means it probably is best suited to youths. The graphics are more than sufficient for this type of game, and we were glad to find options for playing in full-screen mode and adjusting the audio. If you know a young person who needs to brush up on their spelling and vocabulary skills, Aqua Words will likely make a fun tutor.
