    Summary

I recently decided to get into downloading music videos from YouTube, because there is a large selection there of my favorites. But 99% are in the .flv (flash) format that my Media Player 11 won't play. I decided to set up files of my favorite .flvs but needed a downloader and .flv player. I spent two days at cnet trying various programs, and sdaly most were adware or outright spyware, OR proved too complicated for this simple task. A long time ago I learned that with computers, Keep It Simple Stupid (K.I.S.S.) applies! I wanted a great program that did one thing well (you techies and geeks can look for complicated bells and whistles, okay? This review is for K.I.S.S. people. This Applian player works great, is instantly understandable, and no requisite time spent trying to configure it. It plays .flv music videos, period. You can resize the screen from full to .5%, adjust the volume, and that's that. And that's all I wanted! No grief, no headaches, no what's this...a simple, sweet program that you can walk right into and play your .flv music videos. It has a very small footprint and no nags, trials, commercials, ads or BS.

What's not to like? It works...plain and simple...and it's free. If you save .flv music videos (I am more into the music than the video) and don't want to waste a bunch of time, or tear your hair out trying to configure it, or using other players that freeze your system, try it!

I have a buffering problem...my music videos are constantly buffering. When I download them they do the same thing but I found a great downloader, FlashCatch, and it ignores the pauses for buffering and downloads merrily away (but that's another review) and Applian finds the files where I have the stored and plays them blessedly uninterrupted. I anticipate a big library of music videos that Applian can play for me with NO software headaches.
