"iLife 11 is horrible, just horrible."
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
Not one thing.
Cons
I lost a boatload of photos and all my iPhoto books when I loaded iLife 11. My husband also lost a lot of his photos and had many, many problems getting iPhoto to load. Look at the Apple discussion forums for all the problems that exist in iLife 11
Summary
As I said, I and my husband lost many of our treasured photos, and I lost all my iPhoto books (keepsakes I made for my grandson) when we loaded iLife 11. It overwrote some of our backups, so what photos are lost are gone forever.
We were very surprised when we found out that iPhoto had this (and other) problem with MANY, MANY other users. People are losing their photos, iPhoto won't load at all (or is very slow) and other issues about on the Apple Discussion forums.
iPhoto 11 also changes the look and feel of iPhoto. Things (such as splitting events) are harder to do - it takes more steps and you have to search for "Split Events" rather than having an icon on the Events page. You can't rename Events once split until you get back to the main Events page, which means you may have to hunt for the events that you split. The image enhancing/processing isn't as good as it was in iPhoto 09 - not sure what they did there, but it does not turn out good photos. They also took the calendar option out of what you can create, although in their defense they did add cards and postcards.
I was afraid to try any of the other applications, such as iWeb, once I found the issues with iPhoto. We have since uninstalled iLife 11 and reinstalled iLife 09.
Overall, I would say don't buy it until Apple fixes the issues in iPhoto. It was a HUGE disappointment in our house, and from reading the discussion forms, a HUGE disappointment to others, also. -
"Missing handy features from old version of iPhoto....."
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
Very cool new graphically pleasing look.
Cons
No access to address book with new email feature. If you don't know email address you have to manually bring up your address book to copy & paste address. Also very disappointed that key words are no longer displayed under the photos.
Summary
I am hoping a future upgrade will restore the two features mentioned in the "Cons" to iPhoto. Do not like the new email method of only allowing the placement of photos in Apple's email templates.

"Brits mugged again"
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
Garageband to help my guitar playing .... iphoto to help my daughter manage her photography
Cons
Unjustifiable price differential
Summary
I will find it hard not to buy iLife'11 as my family use the existing garageband and iphoto regularly and the enhancements are very attractive ..........BUT ..... as usual the cost in the UK is a joke ..... US customers can buy the 5 user family pack for virtually the same price as a single user deal in the UK !! ............ basic ipad in US $499 / $675 in UK ......basic macbook in US $999 / $1337 in UK etc. etc. etc.
In response to the poster who blamed the high price of Apple products on the British VAT system I must point out that VAT in the UK is 17.5% . Apple products sell in the UK for anything between 33% and 42% more than in the US .

"Exchange rate"
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
Not likely to find out
Cons
It may be good value in the US at $49, but in the UK is it priced at £45 or $71 dollars. In what way is that justifiable Apple???
Summary
Pricing FAIL

"Cool and a god Upgrade but BUGGY"
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
iMovie Traillers are awesome
Cons
iPhoto not only upgrades my entire library everytime, it deleted all of my photos as well
Summary
As stated in the cons, I now have to restore all of my itunes library. Thanks Apple!

"Love most of the changes!"
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
I love that the photos can be full screen . . .
Cons
Please make it compatible to the calendar project ASAP. I have a nearly finished calendar in the works - planning on giving it for Christmas gifts and now I cannot access it! Please hurry with an update for it!
Summary
Easy to use - the "places" feature is great to see a photo on the map rather than just a push pin. My only dislike at this time is that I cannot access my calendar project. There should have been a warning that it was not compatible with it or I would have waited a few weeks to install the upgrade.

"Windows Live Essentials 2011 is so Much Better"
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
Garage Band is the only relevant app in this suite now.
Winodws Live Essentials is so much better http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentialsCons
2 innovative features that iLife doesn't have:
Photo Fuse combines the best parts of two or more photos. Or, create panoramic photos by stiching several together.
Winodws Live Essentials: http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentialsSummary
While iLife had the lead several years ago, it is obvious that Apple is prioritizing its investment in it iOS line while Mac plays second fiddle. Who new photo/movie editing would be better on Windows?

"Nice update to an already good product"
Version: Apple iLife '11
Pros
full screen mode is great. facebook integration is a snap
Cons
moved a couple of the original menu items. could use better iphoto to imovie integration
Summary
Easy and intuitive to use. Very easy for my wife, unless you have moved some of the menu items which can be a source of frustration at first. Putting together a number of clips shot on my wife's iphone and uploading the finished version to facebook was a snap. We had no issues upgrading, although I have read of some potentially lost data on upgrades made by others.
