"For older OS, no Software Update anymore!"

    April 06, 2013   |   By MacHesney

    Version: Apple Security Update 2006-005

Under 'Important Information' in the install process is sometimes a mention of incorporated updates.

    For example, Security Update 2007-008 includes 2007-007; 2007-007 includes 2007-006 & 005, 2007-005 includes 2007-004.
Why Apple doesn't just state instead that 2007-008 includes 2007-004,5,6 & 7 is beyond me.

Apple Software Update does not work for older OS's.
    Panther - no way.
    Tiger - forget it.

A few Apple updates are replaced by other updates because they suck.
The installer will refuse to install some updates with a very vague reason given. System requirements are listed on the update webpage, not in the installer.

Owner of an old Apple - searching Apple downloads could take all day to come up with a list of updates not replaced by newer updates. Buy one of those update disks from a reputable seller.
