"Great quality, but no compatibility with the software i use."

August 05, 2005  |  By fruitty

 |  Version: Apple QuickTime 7.0.1

Pros

great quality, i love the fact that it has the H.264 video quality.

Cons

i had a very hard time to make it compatible with cubase or pro tools LE and had to go back to QT 6.5 pro. the big problem with that is... i had to reformat my entire mac to re-install QT 6.5 pro, cos i couldn't just replace it or uninstall it....

it was a big waste of time at that moment...

"Apple has created an excellent media player with one fatal flaw."

August 05, 2005  |  By bababouie

 |  Version: Apple QuickTime 7.0.1

Pros

Very well written media player that supportes the most popular codecs in use today.

Cons

The biggest problem Quicktime has, and always has had with every version, is the inability to play back video full screen. When you consider how many other top notch media players are available at no charge I don't understand Apple's decision to cripple their free player. If most folks are like me they will just end up not using quicktime due to its lack of full screen support, and how do they expect to convince us to buy it if we don't use their free version.

"A very stable, default, and stylish asset to OS X."

July 21, 2005  |  By Ryankop

 |  Version: Apple QuickTime 7.0.1

Pros

- Is usually very stable and has live grow action.

- With professional has several novice and useful editing tools without the major DV editing programs.

- Live action with your iSight; Record and Play.

- Supports several forms of media and with professional it can export in several medias as well.

- Very stylish in it's default skin.

- Mustn't forget Full Screen view with Pro.. very handy for those nice displays.

Cons

- Does not support all windows friendly movie codecs.

- In few cases it crashes.

- Exporting large movies into different formats is VERY slow.

- Most nice features such as editing are only unlocked with the purchase of Quicktime Pro.

"QT 7 is not compatable with 3rd party AV software"

June 25, 2005  |  By wdannevi

 |  Version: Apple QuickTime 7.0.1

Pros

Video editing is easier and it handles more format conversions in the Pro version

Cons

ProTools 6.4 will not bootup when QT 7 was installed. It does not come with an uninstall function so it was very difficult to get QT 6.5.2 reinstalled properly.

Requires a new liscence for QT & Pro ($30)
