    "Super Fast Safari"

    November 15, 2007  |   By jazzman261_dotmac

Version: Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update 10.4.11

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was reluctant to download this at first since I previously ran into big problems with the then beta version of Safari 3.0
However, throwing all caution to the wind, and having good faith in Apple, I took the plunge on my imac G4. Well, to be brief, Safari 3.0 has become very noticeably faster and leaner. By far the best browser I've yet to use on my computers. Testing it out on former sites that would be sticky and take a while to open, Safari 3.0 is opening them in an instant. Great all around upgrade!

No problems on all 5 Macs and their LaCie Hard Drive backups. removing Acid Search and Safari Dock status didn't ake much of a difference but removing PithHelmet really hurts...ooooh those ADS!

    "some minor anomalies"

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Seems OK, but running Disk Utility immediately afterward revealed some permissions problems like this:

Owner and group corrected on ./System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/Widgets.wdgt/Images/scroll_bar_mid.png

I'm also finding that the weather and stocks widgets aren't downloading their respective data properly. Anyone else?

    "Faster!"

    November 14, 2007  |   By DavidRavenMoon

Version: Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update 10.4.11

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I was complaining today about how this 7 year old DigitalAudio G4 with 1GHz upgrade card, and a gig of ram was getting sluggish. "Must be about time for a new Mac" I said to my wife, hoping she would agree....

    Well this fixed that!

Really though, it feels like it did about a year ago when I first did the Tiger install... The new Safari is faster too. I was getting tired of the beta.

(thinking out loud) I wonder how Leopard will run on this machine? ;)

"Continual Safari Crash with 10.4.11 PPC"

Version: Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update 10.4.11

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Have a 20 inch iMacG5 with 1GB RAM. Ran Disk Utility to verify drive and Repair Disk Permissions before I installed 10.4.11. I did not do so after the installation. I attempted to open Safari and did not even get a splash screen when it crashed. Occurred twice and sent a report to Apple.

    "10.4.11 Works Great for Me!"

Version: Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update 10.4.11

    Summary

You should always remember to turn off third party enhancements.
Acidsearch will prevent you from running Safari.

If you download the acidsearch installer, there is an uninstall,
or you can hunt for the SIMBL package to manually uninstall it.

10.4.11 works great for me, but Apple could not predict what 3rd party stuff
you might have installed that is not compatible.

    Good Luck!

i installed this combo update on two different machines, an 800MHz eMac; and a 2.1GHz iMac. on the eMac, Safari continuously crashes; on the iMac, Safari launches, but won't do anything. no bookmarks work, and entering a URL into the box does nothing. Advice Please!

Have you seen the list of 15 Bugs and counting (macfixit.com) in this as usual SOS OS X update from Apple! Think I'll stick with 10.4.8 now that we FINALLY got that update working!

"Eject key doesn't work after update"

    March 16, 2007  |   By nojunit

Version: Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update 10.4.9

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
After running the 10.4.9 update, the Eject key on my keyboard no longer works. I repaired permissions. I also tried the Combo updater. That didn't fix the problem.

So, at the moment, I start up Roxio Toast to eject (open/close) the drive.

Yes, at tad annoying. Hopefully will be fixed before 10.5 in some minor update.

Version: Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Supplemental Update 10.4.9

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
... no issues with fast opening of the CD/DVD disk draw. In fact, it is more responsive. Some DVD-RWs don't want to play as DVDs but that might also be the way they were burned on my new Zenith DVD/VHS recorder.

BTW, I still have my M-Audio firewire devices. I run permissions before and after and do not disconnect my firewire stuff.

Update was from the combo download. Software update crawls through the download, whereas my browser (Camino) zips right through at normal speeds (1.5MB/sec I think).
