"Pretty ap. but lacks some basic functionality."

Pros
Easy to dress up a spreadsheet for presentations.
Cons
Very frustrating that Apple couldn't include the "freeze frame" facility that was present in Appleworks. Navigating large spreadsheets is a pita with Numbers.
Summary
Old as it is, Appleworks is a better ap. for serious number crunching.
