"What about \"automatic run\" ???"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I love Keynote with its stunning effects and ease of use, but - what about doing a "Run Automaticly" option, Apple ???
I want to use keynote to make self-running (looped) presentations of my company and our products, but as far as I can see, there's no "auto-run" feature.
The "Quicktime export" option doesn't look very good when it comes to text (jagged edges) - and produces HUGE movies - so (for me) that's not a good workaround. I just downloaded Keypress to test it - but I really think that this should be a "inside Keynote" feature.
PLEASE, PLEASE... make this feature in the next release, Apple!!!!!!!!!! -

"Bug and Problem"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1.1
Summary

I love Keynote (Otherwise I would not complain), but ....
1. I present a lot and mostly in windows environments. So exporting my Keynote presentations into PowerPoint would be the normal solution, when I do not want to carry around my computer. Exporting Keynote files into PowerPoint, however, is not satisfactory.Slides that look perfect on Keynote very often have too large font sizes after exporting them into Powerpoint and the text overlaps the edges of the slide. And Bullets are usually not exportable. A solution for these problems would be needed.
2. I have a lot of old but still current Persuasion files. And there should be more people like me out there, because the typical Persuasion addict is more likely to be attracted to Keynote then to PowerPoint. Why did Apple not yet write an import filter for Persuasion files?
Best regards!

"Solid but needs work"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Keynote is a great initial effort for Apple. I like the interface and I LOVE the end results. Presentations created using Keynote look markedly better than those created using PowerPoint.
Keynote needs the be able to create precisely the same slide styles as PowerPoint though - two text boxes are supported on one slide in PP but not in Keynote? This can't last.
The graphic tools are just too basic; they seem like an afterthought given the quality of the rest of the program. I can easily create graphics in other programs and import them, but should I change the theme the graphics may no longer look appropriate. Creating graphics that use theme colors would enable them to change with a theme change.
Import and Export of PowerPoint files is something that needs improvement. Slides imported from the PP format lose some of the orgininal formatting. Similarly, Keynote files exported into the PP format don't look as good; Apple's not at fault here though, because PP doesn't have the tools to display Keynote's extensive eye candy.
The Auto-play of presentations can be handled via a QuickTime export of the presentation, but it whould be simpler and less time consuming to just have Keynote advance the slides automatically if needed.
All that said, I love using Keynote and highly recommend it to others who want to easily create great presentations. To me, Keynote is a work in progress that is becoming more and more polished as time goes on. Given Apple's gifted developers, I think that Keynote will become THE presentation software to beat. Looking forward to Keynote 2.0 some day... -
"Notes on one monitor/slides on the other"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This feature has been in Keynote for awhile now. Just check your preferences and make sure to turn "View Notes" on. You'll see your slides at whatever size you decide (I put mine at 50%) and view the notes below. The audience sees only the presentation.
Keynote is fantastic and every time I do a presentation people are asking me what software I used. I show them how easy Keynote is and the presentation speaks for itself.
The only feature I would like to have is being able to have music or sound bites stretch over more than one slide. Timelines would be nice too. But these are minor for me. I love the program. Stable, stable, stable. -
"Big drawback for me"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1.1
Summary

This is a great program, especially the transitions. The one thing they seem to have really missed is timed sequence for a slide show. I want to run a slideshow "unattended" without having to manually advance each slide. The only way to possibly have this happen is to export to a quicktime movie. That should not be neccessary with a program like this! -

"Very good update..."
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The performance improvements are substantial, and Keynote is now usable for me -- but only as a "finishing" tool. I think I'll still need to build presentations in PowerPoint and convert them to take advantage of Keynote's great transitions, drop shadows, etc. Text handling is still a little rough and could be far more intuitive. This is on the way to being a very good product. -
"great app"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1

No problems with this app, I'm really happy with the update- My suggestion for the Applications folder issue... here is a suggestion- never touch the application folder- throw all your apps in it- then create an alias application folder and organize that however you want... it makes everything much simpler- The Application folder is equivilant to windows "program files" folder- everything else is typically a shortcut or an alias... so there ya go- try that, it might make you happier -
"sound!"
Version: Apple Keynote 1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
i am surprised that you STILL are not able to include an audio track that will play as a soundtrack for an entire presentation, instead of the ridiculousness now that cuts off any audio when the next slide appears. I know this app was built for Steve, but hey, maybe those that paid $100 for it would appreciate a few features he doesn't personally need. If PowerPoint can do it, why can't Keynote? Especially from a company that is "leading a revolution in digital audio"?
