"Move the old version out of the apps folder before"

    February 12, 2010  |   By LutzRFrank

    Version: Apple Aperture 3.0

    Pros

Like it aside of my Lightroom but

    Cons

... it is a bit to much iPhoto like now with face recognition and places. A kind of iPhoto Pro ...

    Summary

If you rename your old version only to eg, Aperture 2 update loop always proposes Aperture 3 as new

    "This is frustrating software."

    September 22, 2009  |   By john392

    Version: Apple Aperture 2.1.4

    Pros

It manages images very well, Great for cropping, sizing and enhancing.

    Cons

Needing an application to make fabulous picture albums - be prepared to be FRUSTRATED. Design of the application lacks focus and consistency. No full-page page-layout view, no floating menus. HELP is next to useless..

    Summary

How can this be an APPLE product - it certainly doesn't look like one. Actions are spread all over the screen and simple tasks like managing the style template are not explained in the help. And because it works differently than the i-work sweet it's not intuitive. Want to cut and past text from one page to another - you can't.
    Very disappointed.

"Top of the Range, superb Photo Organiser and Editor +"

    April 1, 2009  |   By alexndrw

    Version: Apple Aperture 2.1.2

    Pros

The layouts' very well thought out and tools are easy to find/use. On a new Mac it's fast, reliable and helps the user be creative. Easy to navigate and use but producing pro level results, it's a great tool for pro and amateur photographers.

    Cons

Nothing. Version 2 is a vast improvement on the initial offering.

    Summary

If you're a Mac user who's serious about photography or just want a tool to organise shed loads of photos combined with the ability to fix/manipulate them as well as having pro print options and several other user friendly features such as web albums etc. then consider trying/buying this software. I'm hoping for a Windows version for use at home.

    "Head and shoulders above lightroom"

    March 14, 2008  |   By hammond1

    Version: Apple Aperture 2.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I used lightroom till I started trying Aperture. Now I think there are only a few small things that are better/ I like more than in Aperture. Those are exclusive picture correction tools like "noise correction" and the gradation curve. Maybe these things become integrated by Apple one day.

Over all in my opinion Aperture is the more professional and effective tool.

    "Much Improved over Version 1.5"

    February 29, 2008  |   By turbojesse

    Version: Apple Aperture 2.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
In general I had no problems installing the Demo on a Mac Pro 2x3 Ghz Dual Core Xenon with 4 GB and OS 10.5.2. I renamed version 1.5 and left it sitting. I did not touch my original library file. I did import almost a thousand photos, Raw, Tiff and Jpeg. Response seems much better when browsing. Converting for external editor (Photoshop CS3 or Lightzone) seems faster as well.

I have the full retail version on order and am looking forward to leaving iphoto behind and using Aperture exclusively for DAM.

    Why is this?

    in USA 199$
    in UK 129GBP= 251$
    in EUR 199EUR= 292$

    Thank you

Furthermore Aperture 1.6 is really very slow. Open a smart album with 150 pictures sort by a keyword, you can wait 1 min.

"Aperture learning curve -- to appreciation"

    April 19, 2007  |   By doctorgeek

    Version: Apple Aperture 1.5.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.

Last week I took a 3-hour hands-on Aperture workshop offered by Apple at a local photography company. I was amazed at all the Aperture can do, how easy it is to use, how much less space edited RAW images take up, and a lot more! Once the files are imported into Aperture, the workflow is much faster that Photoshop/Bridge. I discovered a lot of shortcut keys at the workshop too....

I don't like to read manuals and haven't read much about using Aperture. I have read several Photoshop/Bridge training books over the years and have used (and loved) the Adobe software. I teach Photoshop workshops.

Aperture rocks! I realize now that it is a different approach to digital image editing and photo management. I plan to buy Apple Pro Training Series: Aperture 1.5 by Orlando Luna and Ben Long and spend a couple of days learning how to use this amazing program.

beautiful application. I'm looking forward to a time when I can use it. Excellent one stop for post production. I just don't have all day to wait for images to load when other apps just pop.
