Although you can quickly hide open programs, applications, and Web sites with this small utility, the program has some limitations. AppAway, which writes itself to the system tray, opens with a much-needed help file. To completely conceal any running program, click the AppAway icon and drag it to the program's main window. In doing so, you won't find any traces in the toolbar or by pressing Alt Tab. Right-clicking the icon will reveal all hidden programs you can unhide individually or simultaneously. Though the application works well, we were disappointed that you can't hide a program if its window is minimized. Any user who wants a quick way to conceal programs will find something to like about AppAway.Publisher's description
From JohnMacIntyre.ca :AppAway is the easiest way to hide any program. The program will not appear on the screen, in the taskbar or when you alt+tab. AppAway is EASY. Just drag the AppAway icon from the system tray onto the software you want to hide. It doesn't get much easier than that! AppAway is SMALL, 72kb. It's written in C++ without any resource hungry components, which means that AppAway is using as little system resources as possible.

Version: AppAway 1
"Does what it says but doesn't remove from taskbar"
Pros: Small, does what it says it does, easy to use.
Cons: No option to remove the program button from the taskbar when hidden. This is the main reason I was wanting this program.

Version: AppAway 1
Pros: Works well.
Cons: If you go to the systems tray you can still see the program icons which are hidden. Worse if the pointer goes over the icon for this program then it tells you exactly what's hidden.

Version: AppAway 1
Pros: Does exactly what it's supposed to
Uses very little resources
Cons: UI is not like most programs so it takes a few minutes to understand how to use it

"My 'hidden' windows disappear"
Pros: I liked it very much at first because I'm the type of person who will open 10 windows at once, and sometimes just keep them open to KIV. So I wanted an app that would hide those windows I don't need to see right now.
Cons: The app worked like a charm at first. However, I've had it installed for a week and this happened TWICE: I went to restore the hidden windows and they never appeared. They simply vanished into thin air. Now I dare not use it coz I don't want to "accidentally" lose something important this way!
