Auslogics Antivirus 2013's features and performance make it comparable to big-name programs costing much more. In addition to real-time virus protection, Auslogics Antivirus 2013 also includes antimalware, antiphishing, antifraud, update management, and many other features and extras. It's free to try for 30 days.

Pros

Powerful yet low-maintenance: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 is built around robust antivirus and antimalware engines with good test records, but it requires little attention from users, especially in Autopilot mode.

Privacy protection: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 also blocks keyloggers and other threats. Its Vulnerability Scan probes your PC for weak points, evaluates password strength, and helps you secure your personal data from hackers.

Extras: The Autopilot handles security in the background; Auslogics Safepay protects your online banking and shopping activities; a USB Immunizer protects against infected USB drives; and Laptop mode saves power.

Cons

Slow starter: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 was a bit balky to install and required multiple reboots to enable the on-access scanning feature and activate our computer's protection. Updates were slow, despite a healthy broadband connection, and our initial full scan took quite some time, too. However, subsequent scans finished faster, especially Quick Scans.

Bottom Line

Once we'd sorted out the installation, Auslogics Antivirus 2013 lived up to its promise to provide comprehensive protection with little or no impact on our PC's performance or our daily time. We're a bit concerned that the research and effort we needed to solve the on-access scanning issue might discourage the target audience, namely those who don't want a $70 antivirus solution but don't mind paying $30 ($29.95, actually) for ease of use and peace of mind.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Auslogics Antivirus 2013 16.25.

"WARNING You may have to REINSTALL Windows!"

February 25, 2014  |  By GaryOrman

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 16.25

Pros

none, it nearly wiped out my Windows installation!

Cons

I wasn't able to restart my computer after it deleted an "infected" file. Luckily, I happened to have a recent restore point, otherwise I would have had to reinstall Windows and all my software apps from scratch!

DON'T TRY THIS SOFTWARE unless you are very brave, have made a complete backup of your system and save a restore point immediately before installing it!

Summary

I already have boostspeed. I was prompted to install this antivirus product and based on the (what turned out to be meaningless) Microsoft Gold certification, I gave it a try.

It scanned my computer and then told me to restart my computer in order to complete the virus cleaning process before reloading windows.

A got a DOS prompt and a message to say the "infected" file had been deleted. No other message and no information about what exactly had been deleted - and of course no option to quarantine or save the file in case it was a false positive or something.

And then I waited for Windows to reboot.

Nothing.

I tried several times to restart the computer and even though I got the initial Windows logo, all I got was a blank screen and no response from the keyboard or mouse.

I had to hardboot my computer several times before the Windows (8.1) diagnostic menu appeared. There was no way to recover my computer except to refresh Windows (which means a clean re-install with no apps).

The last time I made a manual restore point was a month ago, so I thought I'd try that and risk losing all the installs I had made since then. The restore point I made wasn't there! But luckily there was an automated restore point from earlier in the day. I don't know how that got there, but it saved the day.

It removed Auslogics Antivirus and restarted Windows back to the previous configuration.

I will not use this product again, I don't have the time to be testing software products at the risk of trashing my computer. In fact, I'm now no longer confident in using boostspeed any more. It still seems to work OK, but it seems to remove a lot more that I might want it to. It's probably worth making a backup and restore point before using any Auslogics product in the future!

Beware!

"Not Impressed!"

January 01, 2014  |  By afoundryrat

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2013 16.25

Pros

Works when it wants to. When it does it isnt that great.

Cons

Not impressed with this program. Something can be said when a company has you download there product from a spam site (cnet). I have owned this program for 9 months. I have to activate it manually 99% of the time. It chooses not to run and support is a joke! I went back to Essentials. They can keep the remaining 3 months.

Summary

If you buy any of there products. Beware of one thing. They will automatically put you on auto pay. I also purchased BootSpeed from these people and they advertise the version 6. This will not download in any of my computers. I have windows vista,xp,7 and 8. Buyer beware.

"Should be mentioned with the likes of Norton, Vipre..."

May 19, 2012  |  By JayGullen

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2011 14.0.28

Pros

Excellent against zero-day malware
Plenty of settings to play with.

Cons

No time remaining or download bar on how long for definition updates
Not marketed enough

Summary

Auslogics Antivirus uses Bitdefender's engine for virus definitions which makes this AV, in my opinion, one of the best. It even tells you if you haven't updated your Windows updates and other things.

Has plenty of settings to play with which can be overwhelming for some. I tested this program the way it came. No setting changes. Stopped everything I threw at it with no problems. From newly infected websites to Ransomware. Even the Deep Scan (most thorough scanner)scanned my PC in just 65 min.

In my opinion, this AV SHOULD be considered as one of the best paid AVs in the market. Too bad that it isn't well known as Norton, Vipre or even the free AVs out there... It's just that good!!

"Gets high marks from virus bulletin"

April 22, 2012  |  By Know-a-lot

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2011 14.0.28

Pros

This antivirus scored very high on the Virus Bulletin charts when they tested dozens of different AV programs.
It does not slow down my older computer, seems to be light on resources.
It does not conflict with the free version of MBAM, which I run weekly.

Cons

The way the download worked seemed unusual to me and confused me a little at first - I downloaded the installer first and then launched it to get the program, but it was all worth it in the end.

Summary

It scored even higher than some big names in detection rates in VB tests. I was intrigued and, since I use other software from this company, I felt I needed to give the AV a try. I found it perfect for my older computer - doesn't slow it down like some other AV's did and I feel well protected knowing that it got such high marks in expert tests.

"Didn't like it"

August 02, 2011  |  By dinju

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2011 14.0.28

Pros

Not much good in my opinion.

Cons

It was always telling me that it had crashed and asked me to send feedback. When I tried to submit feedback, it would crash again.

Summary

I feel that this product is not for me.

"Didn't Try It"

June 17, 2011  |  By ronlee031762

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2011 14.0.28

Pros

Sounds effective to those on this thread; but read what I posted in the Bottom-line summary.

Cons

I watched a vid where it failed.

Summary

I watched this video on Youtube and am a little hesitant. This vid is the 2010 version. I suppose that they have made some sugnificant changes. In this video it failed though. I run Vipre Antivirus Home Premium. I very pleased with it; but I am always looking for better programs if they are out there. I guess what I am saying is that someone on here may have some convincing to do to sell to this individual!

"Not bad, didn't have enough time to test trial version."

October 27, 2010  |  By THoffman2

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2010 13.0.20

Pros

best is the registry cleaner, but once again, just didn't get to test it long enough to be sure?

Cons

Didn't get to use it enough to make a judgement.

Summary

I don't dislike the product. I like what it was supposed to do but I just did not get to test it near as much as I would have liked. I try to screw up anything new on the market due to the fact that my customers listen and trust me. I screwed up about eleven years ago and that won't happen again.

"A very good fast defrag programme"

September 16, 2010  |  By Themisive

 |  Version: Auslogics Antivirus 2010 13.0.20

Pros

As a modder, i want something to defrag my programmes quickly after a modding session and Auslogics Disk Defrag does just that.

Cons

I haven't found any problems.

Summary

It's just the job for a quick defrag after a modding session. Often I can be playing a game and I end up with missing walls or floors, this is due to extensive use of a particular file, it gets scattered in different places over the hard disk, so the game cannot find it!

Auslogics Disk Defrag finds those pieces and puts them back together. As the programme is extremely fast, it is no problem to run after EVERY modding session - in fact the programme was recommended to me by a friend (also a modder), who found it to suit her needs and thought it might suit mine as well.
