"not much good in my opinion"
Version: Aluria Security Center
Pros

Cons

Summary
found things on my computer that i know for sure are false positives.....computer tends to freeze using it.....[the only app on my PC that does this???].....i believe it's just another app....that is trying to suck users in to buying it!!!

"Haven't bought yet 1star because it works even badly!"
Version: Aluria Security Center
Pros
I was going to buy but after reading through all 50 reviews have decided to purchase another product
Cons
There were far to many cons about this one, there are always going to be a few who report negatively but reviews 30-50 was almost entirely made up of horror stories! I am aware that multiple anti-virus anti-spyware & firewalls installed on the same computer are always going to swear at each other but the negative reviews were pure nightmares, thankfully I read the reviews BEFORE downloading they sure scared the poo out of me! I'll buy elsewhere.

"One size fits ALL !!!"
Version: Aluria Security Center
Pros
It comes (came) free with my People PC DSL hook-up (1.5 Mgs), but as I have two more years left on my McAfee subscription, I never set it up for some time. After a "fight" with my McAfee one fine day, I ripped that right out by the roots and gave my PPC Security Suite a shot at it. I've never looked back! Good stuff; simple; got it ALL; powerful AND unobtrusive.
Cons
One thing only: The Firewall "alerts/warnings" ONLY give the IP address (such as 198.162.1.1) of incoming/outgoing attempts at contact(s). "I" am NOT that good to know what to (dis)allow and I have to use the Firewall that came with Windows XP just to be sure. PLEASE upgrade this ... ASAP???

"Don't bother with this one."
Version: Aluria Security Center
Cons
I fix a lot of computers, and I have seen numerous machines with this software that also had spyware and viruses. At best, it's ineffective, and at worst, it may be rogue. Don't download it.

-
"Well worth downloading!"
Version: Aluria Security Center
Pros
Have only just installed this software, but it has already scanned the system and found numerous adware/spyware despite having a similar piece of software on the PC previous to this installation.
Cons
Had a minor problem with the registration process, but otherwise seems to be a very good product.

"Free, but not free of negatives."
Version: Aluria Security Center
Pros
I have been using ALuria for a couple of months now, and have been somewhat happy with it, but soon I'll be moving on to something else.
Anyway, here are the good points. Purty Interface: it brings joy to my eyes!
One Scan: Anti-virus & anti-spyware scan all at once. It makes my heart glad!!
Active Defense Shield: actively defending with a shield!!! I haven't had any horror stories with malware while using Aluria.
AND it's free!! FREE-ENESS.
Cons
If only:
-there was a way to view infected files!
Every time I run the scan, it says there is an infected file, and lists it under ignore!! And there's no way to view the location.
-there hadn't been so many annoying glitches. Log won't scroll down, exceptions list was leaky (but that appears to have been fixed),had to download four times to get it to work because of an error with registration key.
-support actually replied to e-mails! I can appreciate support might be harried, but I never got a reply back from them, ever.
-there was a forum, or a fuller support page. Seeing they don't respond...
-they had a fuller database. I read that Aluria used to have a comprehensive online database, but not now.
-and Aluria's past co-operation with Gator/Claria does not inspire trust. But to be fair, that is in the past now. The company is now recommending its removal, as it rightly should. Phew.
