Version: Aluria Security Center 4.0
Cons: I use a number of different spyware removers. Aluria Spyware Eliminator is the one that I like least! To be perfectly honest I very much regret buying it!!!! I prefer Webroot Spysweeper(shareware), + either Ad-AwareSE Personal edition(freeware), or Spybot Search and Destroy(freeware) as alternatives!...

Version: Aluria Security Center 4.0
Cons: This program is a liar. It says that it found 18 toatal spyware programs but there weren't any because I ran Spybot Ad-Aware Microsoft Antispyware Yahoo Antispy and Spysweeper all together and did not find any of these programs. I think its just bribing you to buy it. I searched for those files in my hard drive did not find a single thing that it said don't download!

Version: Aluria Security Center 4.0
Pros: It did find and remove a variant of CoolWebSearch (Win32/startpage.tj) that AdAware, PestPatrol and Spyware Doctor all missed.
Cons: I posted the following on the Aluria forum under the heading "Interferes with Diskeeper": "I was about to complain about the excessive fragmentation ASC was causing because Diskeeper was unable to open the AluriaCacheFile.dat, when I saw an update available in this blog. I downloaded & installed the update and I was able to fully defragment my hard drive, but now I can't run a boot time defrag! When I uninstalled Diskeeper (I was going to try reinstalling it), my computer spontaneously rebooted. Microsoft suggests that this may be a software driver problem. Until this is resolved, I am uninstalling ASC. There are MANY programs that can adequately manage spyware, but there is only one Diskeeper and I am NOT willing to sacrifice boot time defragmentation for this intrusive, splash screen-running, incompatible piece of ****ware!" The webmaster removed my post after only 15 minutes...I guess they don't want their customers to know about this incompatibility. Don't buy this product!

"Good program, bad about When-u's involvement"
Pros: Shortly after buying this program, I heard about When-u. Although I ran several other antispy programs since then thinking my comp was infested I never seen anything to do with When-u until a week ago & was caught by Spycatcher 3.5 which I installed nearly a year ago. Spybot didn't catch it, but I did run Spycatcher first one night. I don't think When-U comes with Aluria software, it just doesn't detect it. It seem to do a good job, although it is no longer in my start up programs. Has tons of options, but Microsoft & Spycatcher seem to catch the most intrusions.
Cons: WHEN-U!!! Kinda high priced when you can get similar programs for less or even free. Didn't kill my computer, or slow it down any, except during a scan

"Buggy and non-existant tech support"
Pros: Beautiful user interface
Cons: 1) Doesn't remove all the spyware it finds, even after a reboot.
2) Complains that my copy is about to expire in July 2005, when in fact, I bought it in July 2005. Then it nags me to buy an upgrade.
3) My PC running XP/SP2 cannot successfully manually reboot anymore as the Aluria tray app stops it from logging off.
4) And WORST of all: Aluria Tech Support. I cannot get their technical support to reply to my repeated emails asking to clarify the above issues.
Somewhere on the web, I read a glowing review of this software and dumped Spy-sweeper when that program expired. Big mistake. This has been a complete waste of money.
