    "Meh... Not Impressed"

    April 9, 2009  |   By bdelamo

Version: Alive HD Video Converter 1.2.0.3

    Pros

    Computer did not crash.

    Cons

Trial only converts 60% of the file. Output video was vertically stretched, so everyone looked a little funny.

    Summary

Was looking for an HD video converter to post on YouTube. This did not produce a quality video for me.

"Great tool to convert HD files from HD video cam"

    February 21, 2009  |   By OALK

Version: Alive HD Video Converter 1.2.0.3

    Pros

    - simple to install and use
    - fairly cheap license
    - easy to evaluate before purchase with the free download version
    - quick and easy format conversion
    - great conversion results to .wmv and H.264 HD (.mp4) video

    Cons

    - some formats have a lot of motion artifacts (may be inherent in the format?)

    Summary

Small, to-the-point program that is effective to use and does a good job. My task was to convert my HD .mts files generated by my Canon HF100 HD cam to a more usable format, and conversion to HD .wmv and H.264 .mp4 HD worked great.
Drag-and-drop functionality makes it even easier to get the job done.

I would highly recommend this program to anyone struggling with a bunch of "unusable" HD files from a video cam - this program will let you convert all your video to formats that can be viewed on your regular PC video player software and uploaded to the web.

    Updated on Feb 23, 2009

Tried it on Vista.... drag-and-drop does not work, and the conversion was stopped by the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Windows.
The other comment made here must be for a Vista platform.

"The ONLY software that will convert HD video"

    January 1, 2009  |   By Maxi3D

Version: Alive HD Video Converter 1.2.0.3

    Pros

Converted m2st vidoe format to MPEG 2 HD without a hitch. Small program size. Low Cost of the program. A good choice of convertion setting that's not unlike the highend software.

    Cons

Few frame drops on converted HD video. Average convertion speed.

    Summary

Ever since Nero 9 stopping people from backing up their Blu-ray movie DVD, I have been searching high and low for a program that will let me transcodes m2ts files from the Blu-ray to MPEG2 HD video so I can transfer it into my HD video jukebox. Most of the software were either converted the video file too small to be useful or not able to convert the HD files at all. Not until I came upon Alive HD Video Converter, it took the remuxed file from TSmuxer HD without a grump and give a choice of convertion settings that is not unlike highend software. It converted the 19 Gb of HD video like a little software that could. I was able to playback the converted file on my WD Media player on my 1080p HDTV without a hitch. Although, I did noticed a few dropped frames, but being the only software that is affordable and not in cahoots with motion picture studios, I guess I will over look that flaw.
