Version: Alibre Design Xpress 11
"Inexpensive n GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!"
Pros: If you are designing parts and using it for engineering purposes versus "trying your hand at 3D modelling" (CAD is not for modelling pretty things, it is for precision engineering purposes) then this program is right for you (if you want to model game stuff go get Maya, 3DS Max, Lightwave etc..).

Version: Alibre Design Xpress 11
Pros: There is no reason for me to list any because the previous comments list them.
Cons: The reason why I give this program a 4 star rating instead of a 5 is due to one major requirement. You are forced to install the Microsoft java virtual machine. This I consider to be the major downfall to this program. Soon JVM will not be supported and I am already running into websites that say I need the sun microsystems version of java for certain things.
Download.com you really should list in the requirements field that Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine is a requirement. Whithout it you can't install this on your machine!

Version: Alibre Design Xpress 11
Pros: Free, for 3D design software
Cons: Learn 3D design or take lessons before trying this out. The tutorial is confusing and making a simple object is very complicated.

"The most inexpensive, most powerful 3d parametric CAD software for under $2000."
*Comparing prices to other 3D parametric modellers, the full version is less than 20% of the cost of competitors.
*If you know what CAD is and have used it, then you know how hard tech support is to get after you get the product. These guys actually get back to you, answer the phone etc.
*Unbeatable value proposition compared to other products
*3 levels of the software and 3 levels of price points
*Xpress is FREE to try, and gives a lot of the functionality of the full price product. You can evidently also ask the company to convert your license into a trial, which gives complete functionality for a limited timeframe. It's good if you want to design something or see if it would work for you.
Cons: *This free version has a limited number of parts for assemblies
*Basic knowledge of 3D CAD is nice to have to get up and running, but is not required.
