"Excellent functionality spoilt by nasty copy protection"

    September 19, 2013  |   By redfava

    Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.4713

    Pros

I've found it very useful for having various CDs and DVDs mounted on my PC without actually having the disks inserted, saving the hassle of continually swapping CDs/DVDs and reducing damage risk to the physical disks.

    Cons

The copy protection is vicious, making it difficult for a legal licence holder to actually use he damned thing. Too often the licence info is mysteriously lost and you're accused of using a pirated copy. I know copy protection is needed but this is the most nasty one I've come across.

    Summary

A great product spoilt by nasty copy protection, making life unneccessarily hard to use for legal users who've bought a licence.

"ALL CNET DOWNLOADS ARE GREAT!!! NO MALWARE OR VIRUSES!"

    August 30, 2013  |   By minus82

    Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.4713

    Pros

These products I download have more than surpassed what I expect of them.

TO YOU OTHER *******'S THAT SAY THEY HAVE MALWARE.... ETC. YOU ARE THE SAME IDIOTS THAT GO TO RANDOM PORN SITES AND CLICK ON EVERY LITTLE THING THAT LOOKS GOOD. THIS IS HOW YOU GET VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTERS AND COMPLAIN ABOUT IT AND WANT TO BLAME CNET.

YOU STUPID F**KS THAT CANT OR DONT READ BEFORE CLICKING ON YOUR DOWNLOADS ARE RESPONSIBLE. DONT BLAME OTHERS OR CNET FOR YOUR OWN IMPATIENCE AND LACK OF READING SKILLS

    Cons

MY ONLY CON IS THE STUPID IDIOTS THAT DONT KNOW HOW TO READ AND WANT TO OPEN THEIR MOUTHS WHEN THEY CANT POSSIBLE BE THE ONES AT FAULT FOR THEIR OWN *******'ERY

    Summary

GOOD JOB CNET. LOVE WHAT YOUR DOING GLAD TO BE A LONG, AND LOYAL, CITIZEN OF YOUR SITE. I WILL CONTINUE TO USE YOUR SITE AS WELL AS CONTINUE TO REFER YOU TO OTHERS AS WELL. I WILL EVEN BE SURE TO TELL THEM TO READ BEFORE CLICKING EVERY LINK POSSIBLE. EVEN THOUGH THE PEOPLE I DEAL WITH ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS I WOULD LIKE TO VOUCH FOR AND SAY THEY ARE NOT THE ONES WRITING THE NASTY THINGS UP UPON YOUR SITE. THANKS AGAIN. A LOYAL USER, BRIAN

    Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.4713

    Pros

No pros to say for this program. It will cause you numerous problems.

    Cons

The cons are you will spend a whole lot of time getting rid of the problems associated with this program. You will get AVG & more even if you opt out of it. Norton Internet Security wont stop it!!!

    Summary

    "Installs crapware"

    February 20, 2013  |   By drabek

    Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.4713

    Pros

Absolutely none that I could find.

    Cons

The trial version is so bad, it doesn't make you want to buy the full version. To uninstall you won't find it listed in the Programs and Features section of the control panel; you have find the uninstaller as a program in the start menu.

    Summary

Stay away and find something better. I can't believe CNET allows this here.

"STAY AWAY!!! HIJACKS ALL YOUR BROWSERS!!!"

    July 10, 2012  |   By anon_txatyahoo.com

    Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.3931

    Pros

This product had a good name with me (UNTIL NOW). Have used earlier versions and enjoyed them.

    Cons

During install, I had no browsers open. But Opera notified me something was modifying it but said it blocked it. Firefox also complained but let the mod go through. Micro$loth Explorer of course said nothing and silently rolled over. I have not yet checked my installations of Chrome or Safari because I seldom use them. IT NEVER NOTIFIED OR ASKED ME BEFORE DOING THIS. Let me repeat this for the person who claims it does not do it: IT NEVER NOTIFIED OR ASKED ME BEFORE HOSING MY BROWSERS. I even reinstalled it to be sure I had not missed a prompt or question. STAY AWAY from this garbage.

As far as earlier versions are concerned, I did not like the fact it has it's own proprietary disk image format - What is wrong with just strictly using ISO??? I have not yet used the product and probably won't given the stunt it pulled during install.

    Summary

This part is easy: STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!!! I hope CNET pulls them down and bans them.
