CNET Editors' review
Need a utility to create and burn backups of your CDs and DVDs? Alcohol 120% can handle just about all of them. Popular for its ripping speeds, it only lacks in the options department--they're a bit thin.
Its wizard-based interface is handy for managing CD images and virtual drives. The program handles most disc image formats, including ISO, Nero, CloneCD, and CDRWIN. Profiles let you save copy settings for audio, game, data, discs. Beyond the wizard, the interface is sparse. Still, the functionality of the application, which should satisfy all users, justifies its price.
Alcohol120% - Create virtual CD/DVD-ROMs and burn backup copies of your discs - Download Video Previews:Publisher's Description
From Alcohol Soft:
Alcohol 120% can handle the creation of 31 virtual CD and DVD-ROMs, letting users play discs without needing the physical disc. Users can copy CDs and DVDs to CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, and DVD+RW discs. The reading speed of a virtual CD-ROM is 200x. It supports normal CD, DVD, and CD RAW subchannel reading methods. The RAW reading method lets users emulate all CDs. Alcohol 120% supports numerous CD (CD-DA, CD+G, CD-ROM, CD-XA, VideoCD, Photo CD) and DVD (DVD-ROM, DVD-Video, DVD-Audio) formats. It also supports all current (ATAPI & SCSI) drives. The latest version adds two more profiles to the data type options and includes support for unusually formatted DVD+RW discs formatted by other software.
What's new in this version: Version 2.0.2.3931 has fixed problem with automatic version update check.

"STAY AWAY!!! HIJACKS ALL YOUR BROWSERS!!!"
Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.3931
Pros
This product had a good name with me (UNTIL NOW). Have used earlier versions and enjoyed them.
Cons
During install, I had no browsers open. But Opera notified me something was modifying it but said it blocked it. Firefox also complained but let the mod go through. Micro$loth Explorer of course said nothing and silently rolled over. I have not yet checked my installations of Chrome or Safari because I seldom use them. IT NEVER NOTIFIED OR ASKED ME BEFORE DOING THIS. Let me repeat this for the person who claims it does not do it: IT NEVER NOTIFIED OR ASKED ME BEFORE HOSING MY BROWSERS. I even reinstalled it to be sure I had not missed a prompt or question. STAY AWAY from this garbage.
As far as earlier versions are concerned, I did not like the fact it has it's own proprietary disk image format - What is wrong with just strictly using ISO??? I have not yet used the product and probably won't given the stunt it pulled during install.Summary
This part is easy: STAY AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE!!! I hope CNET pulls them down and bans them.

"DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS!!!"
Version: Alcohol 120 2.0.2.3931
Pros
NONE at all
Cons
I downloaded this and immediately my browser was hijacked and system crashed.
Summary
I don't know what else to say. CNET is a very reputable site but obviously someone has done something with this file. As I said above, I downloaded this file and my browser was hijacked and my system crashed.
