Need a utility to create and burn backups of your CDs and DVDs? Alcohol 120% can handle just about all of them. Popular for its ripping speeds, it only lacks in the options department--they're a bit thin.
Its wizard-based interface is handy for managing CD images and virtual drives. The program handles most disc image formats, including ISO, Nero, CloneCD, and CDRWIN. Profiles let you save copy settings for audio, game, data, discs. Beyond the wizard, the interface is sparse. Still, the functionality of the application, which should satisfy all users, justifies its price.
Publisher's description
From Alcohol Soft :Alcohol 120% can handle the creation of 31 virtual CD and DVD-ROMs, letting users play discs without needing the physical disc. Version: Alcohol 120% 1.9.8.7117
"Not the best, probably not the worst"
Pros: Has some undesirable "features".
Cons: Seems to add time to an audio recording - original was 3:44 and the copied version became 3:59. Became apparent with piano passages. Not noticable on data CD's or multi-instrument music. Sound is similar to a stretched audio tape. No thanks!

"Beware of Trojan Spyware with this one"
Cons: I downloaded and installed the free version of this program. I was suspicious when Alcohol required that I install the "Alcohol Toolbar" (???) After clicking OK, Norton threw an alert that Alcohol had tried to install "Trojan Adclicker", but Norton killed it. Why do they go to the trouble of submitting this - do they think we'll ignore it?
