Internet Cleanup resolves privacy concerns by removing cookies, history files and Internet clutter that can be traced and allow for the permanent deletion of any file or folder. Internet Cleanup works with all the popular Macintosh browsers including Safari and Internet Explorer (a Windows version is also available).

What's new in this version: Address a bug in the NetBlockade feature. This updater will update version 1.1 to version 1.1.1 and will only work where a registered version of Internet Cleanup 1.1 is installed.

"intermittent failure will mess the whole computer up"

    November 7, 2011  |   By wildagreen

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 5.1

    Pros

seems to do a not bad job - WHEN IT WORKS

    Cons

once it stops working for whatever reason - it does, believe me - it simply can't be reinstalled and the company won't give you a new download after 30 days...they want you to buy discs..right. like i'm going to buy this twice!! uninstalling is a pain and a special program is needed to complete the uninstall program sent with the original download.

    Summary

this is a waste of money. period. and it also can give your computer the equivalent of gas which is difficult to cure. support is basically useless, buy the way. do not buy.

    "Not Worth The Pain"

    October 24, 2011  |   By sperry532

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 5.1

    Pros

Might get rid of some of the more obvious problem files.

    Cons

    Poor documentation.
Slows browsing to a crawl as it "inspects" each and every element of every page. If the page is image and/or link heavy, you'll spend a lot of time waiting.
Scatters its files and subprograms all over the hard drive.
Hides several of its subprograms, making it difficult to uninstall completely.
Several subprograms respawn themselves after apparent removal much like viruses or rootkits.

    Summary

Do Not Buy!!! Not Good At All!!!

"Made my MacBook Pro a full-time gig playing beachball!"

    July 7, 2011  |   By dasman888

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 5.1

    Pros

Can't think of any... really. Caused major issues for me, which cleared up IMMEDIATELY once I uninstalled it.

    Cons

Made my finder and some applications SO slow, as to be almost unusable.

    Summary

Given that this slowed my machine down by 80 to 90%, one has to question the source code, and whether it's safe to even run this on a Mac OS-X machine

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 5.1

    Pros

Lots of options for protecting your Web Front Door

    Cons

You do have to open the Net Blockade app and reset a button if you wish to play videos.

    Summary

I like it because when it's running, I can forget about most of those nasties lurking just outside my gate. If it blocks from something, it's an easy fix to reset.

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 5.1

    Pros

    Nothing whatsoever!

    Cons

Stopped my YouTube videos from running and I had to do an awful amount of research and corresponding with techies before the problem was nailed. Don't touch it!

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 5.1

    Pros

Nice concept, really - but does horrible things to the Mac.

    Cons

First time I've ever seen my Mac give me a (\) sign and refuse to boot, right after I've installed my PAID IC 5.1! Tech support said it's likely due to a corrupted boot cache caused by the installation. YUCK. I've uninstalled it, and NEVER again.

    Summary

I'm! done with this product. My Mac's worked just fine for 3 years without this, and I don't need anymore (\)s

    "DANGER - DO NOT INSTALL"

    February 10, 2008  |   By atomg60

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 4.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This has to be the worst piece of crap program I have ever encountered for a Mac.

I installed their demo of version 4, and found the program to be worthless, so I turned off all their automatic settings. I also noticed that since installing it, I was encountering popup ads at several websites even though I had popup blocking enabled in Safari...this had never happened before.

When the trial period expired, I started getting a popup window every time I booted my computer telling me the demo had expired. So, I trashed the program in the normal way...still the annoying popup message. Did a spotlight search for every name I could think of associated with the program & deleted every file I could find...still the friggin' popup. Eventually went to their website and found a SPECIAL PROGRAM dedicated to stopping Internet Cleanup from running, & then a second program to uninstall it. Downloaded it with trepidation, as at this point I'm starting to feel that their program is some sort of spyware and I don't want to run another one of their products on my machine...but I am at my wit's end. Run the ICSTOPPER (this makes me very suspicious...why should I need a special program to stop a program I've already turned off?!?), and the uninstall program. It seems to go well, but when I reboot my system it crashes immediately with an error screen i've never seen before (kinda like the kernel panic screen, but less detailed)...reboot, same thing...reboot, same thing...reboot with zero peripherals attached, hangs on the grey screen...reboot, same thing a couple more times...finally on about the sixth or seventh try, my machine booted, albeit much more slowly than usual. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok.

I consider software like this to be invasive and unethical. Making a demo near impossible to remove is an age-old trick to get you to give up and buy it just to get rid of annoying messages. The demo scheme described by other users here seems to confirm the fact that they're just out to get your $$$. I also suspect their "Internet Cleanup" program to be some sort of spyware in and of itself, even though it claims to be a spyware removal tool...another practice common to unethical purveyors of spyware.

I recommend you stay far, far away from any products offered by this company.

    "ONLY POSITIVE"

    September 29, 2007  |   By jesusversuswar

    Version: Aladdin Internet Cleanup 4.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
My experience of this app, on Tiger iMac, has only been completely positive. I think it is easy to use. Plus it has what you might call a FREE shredder, the best I've used, which takes away unwanted games and app downloads. It tells you what your computer is doing, and asks you if you want to block or allow things. I give it full stars personally - but some machines may just react differently. As for the spyware business - I do not know enough.
