This very basic RSS reader brings all the latest news and headlines right to your desktop, but don't expect any extra features. Al's RSS Ticker sports a bland interface that includes two buttons--one for configurations and one to refresh--and a news ticker. This particular reader uses Yahoo as its default source, but you can add any URL you wish. During testing, adding--and subsequently receiving--feeds from several sources was a piece of cake. Clicking a headline will take you directly to the full story, though our computer became very sluggish when we tried this. The feed bar can be positioned anywhere on your screen and remains on top of whatever window you are working in. We would have liked to see a larger variety of preloaded feeds as well as other features found in similar readers, such as the ability to e-mail feeds to friends. Al's RSS Ticker's simple design may best suit users who are new to the world of RSS readers, but if simplicity just isn't your thing, you might want to look for another RSS reader that offers more options.Publisher's description
From Al's Stuff :A RSS ticker for your desktop. Keep up to the minute with the latest RSS feed from your favorite news service to your favorite Internet store. There is neither an installer nor an uninstaller for this application. It is just a simple single executable file.

Version: Al's RSS Ticker 1.0
Pros: I love the simplicity of this program. I don't want a bunch of features in a news ticker that I'll never use.
Cons: The ticker could definitely be a little smoother. It's a tad bit "jumpy".
Also, the program seemed to have a small bug. When I changed the source of the feed and clicked apply the configuration box refused to close until I exited the program itself.

Version: Al's RSS Ticker 1.0
"Limited but works as designed and no ads."
Pros: No install required. Refresh on feed quick. Multiple tickers can be run but each takes up more memory. Window actually works for clicking on new items to launch browser (had problems with similar applications). Windows reposition nicely. No ads or spyware or gotcha's.
Cons: Only one RSS feed per instance. Scrolling a little jerkey control of speed might help. Required installing Java again despite the fact I had java installed. Between java and application over 82k for first ticker 25k after that.
