"I really like this free version."

    December 8, 2011  |   By Ji-HooF4

Version: Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1

    Pros

Easy to use, even for a novice. Layout is nice, comprehensive without needing a manual. Many features I would have expected on the paid version only, including an overwrite cleaner for free space on hard drive. Restore point for registry cleaner, a good idea. Agnitum Outpost Security Suite has not had incompatibility issues with my other software-yeah!

    Cons

Can't tell if my computer runs exceptionally faster after cleaning, but it doesn't run any worse either. Not like before.

    Summary

Liked it well enough that I put it on all my home computers. Also recommended it to my sister for her laptop. I was using Kaspersky's the last 2 years, but had some major problems, and had my Vista computer crash. Arrgh! Read others also had Kaspersky software issues, so decided it was time for a change. Glad I tried CNET and found this software.

    "Its free and it works!"

    September 17, 2011  |   By nathannitz

Version: Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1

    Pros

    It is free!

    Cons

none that I can think of

    Summary

This software is simple and it works great. I previously used COMODO Internet Security Free, but it seemed to slow down the computer sometimes for no apparent reason. I haven't noticed this issue with Outpost.

Version: Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1

    Pros

    Free, good antivirus, awesome firewall

    Cons

    none so far?

    Summary

Just borrowed my sister's laptop to clean up her Windows Vista from fake antivirus and some scareware. Tried 3 paid apps, they wouldn't install and showed that ANNOYING trial popups... I've found this Internet security suites directory so I checked out Outpost Suite, installed it well, wiped out the mess. Outpost FREE nailed it!

"AV is Great, but I installed a Much Better FW...."

    July 24, 2011  |   By scottls59901

Version: Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1

    Pros

-One of the Very Highest AV detection/removal/Zero day rates (including paid), and a web/Spam guard too.
-Fast, and easy to Temp Suspend for installs or on-demand AV scans...
-Full featured Quarantine, and you CAN Restore from it!
    -Auto-Updates 4hrs.

    Cons

No issues with the AV, but didn't like anything about their mom & pop firewall!-
Silently allows Everything (including malware!), and no White/Black list to view/customize...

    Summary

My solution was to install the latest free PrivateFireWall (used for 2 years)-
    -Un-ticked Outpost FW in "Settings"/reboot.
-Installed PFW (reboot again after 10min initial learning (don't open, unless you are going to Import old Settings!)), to Fully activate (Any FW).

With PFW There is a short learning curve-
-Just start all your programs to have them auto-added to Process Monitor/Applications (default auto-Filtered, but you can right click & Allow All for the Fully Trusted ones to be faster....
-I Filter the programs that are prone to attack like- Java, Adobe Reader...
-I also Filter IE9/FF5 in Applications, but Allow All in Processes.
-You can also Save/Import Settings, for easy future program upgrades (must uninstall old first).

Enjoying my Custom/full featured/Fast Security Suite!

    "Q&D Necessary Tool & FREE !!"

    June 12, 2011  |   By manxe

Version: Agnitum Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1

    Pros

FREE. Have not had a problem yet. Relatively unobtrusive. Never a resource hog. It blocked some significant "phone homes" after installation. It replaces my Tiny Personal Firewall, an excellent product, which went to a paying model.

    Cons

It could be a bit more instructive when it comes to deciding on rules. The answers are not as obvious as they used to be with TPF. Though it may be me, not keeping up with the technology. Just takes getting used to it.

    Summary

One of the necessary elements to protect your platform and keep your sanity, along with AVG, Glary, hardware FW router, Spybot, multiple site advisors, and [occasionally] Housecall.
