    "It's not a magic bullet."

    December 29, 2012  |   By Steam_Power

    Version: Advanced SystemCare 6.0.8.170

    Pros

Good to have in your tool box.

    Cons

THER'RE SETTING YOU UP TO BUY MORE CRAP. You still have to do a lot of manual tweaking. example: when optimizing firefox, you have to uncheck "set of time to suspend pending requests". Otherwise it clears something out that makes the web pages you click on hang-up for ever. And in the CARE menu, turn of "internet boost" to keep it off, otherwise it will put that check mark back in when you scan again, also registry fix, because your a fool if you run registy fix every time. Or you have to reset firefox and re-do all your settings there. Doesn't do to chrome. It took me almost two weeks to trouble shoot which one of those checked boxes are making firefox do that. (unchecking boxes, running ASC, reseting firefox, over and over. I was even reseting my router boxes!) NOw, having figured that out, who knows how many other combonations of boxes could be left checked or unchecked to further optimize internet browsers. I'm not even going there. Works good enough.

    Summary

Not recommended for a novice. It just gives you a tool box that an avid user could already make when cleaning and optimizing their system. You still have to know what your doing. A novice would just "one click" and think its supposed to just magically fix everything, not knowing it's going it's going to clear out something that needs to be, and then say its a junk progam. In my opinion, all progams similar to this would have the same issues. Like I said, an avid user could do all these things with various free programs and do a way better system optimizing job. All these progams just give you a tool box. Make your own tool box. Get CCleaner, dont run registry fix (or be very cautious). Get Auslogic defrag and Auslogic duplicate file finder. Adaware. Webroot Secure Anywhere. A good free RAM releaser, then add ASC to your toolbox and only use the features you didn't cover. And there's your tool box. See, there're setting you up to buy more crap. in MSCONFIG, turn off all unnecessary programs that are running. Learn how to tweak Firefox in "about:config". In Chrome "chrome:extensions". Or like I mentioned above, ACS can pretty much cover Firefox and Chrome optimizer, just make sure you uncheck that one box I mentioned earlier. If you want to go further, try setting up your proxy to DNS. These are all the things the geeks do and I'm sure they do a lot more. You can do all these things without buying anything, and do a better job.

"I like it with 1 minor exception"

    December 27, 2012  |   By Dah-Big-Dog

    Version: Advanced SystemCare 6.0.8.170

    Pros

Registry cleaner fixed a problem that has been plaguing my system for quite a while. Have it installed on all 3 desktop systems, improved boot times. While admittedly subjective, all systems seem to be running better. They are all XP versions which have been subjected to years of abuse by poorly written software.

    Cons

Every time the system boots up Mr. Smiley face is gone and Yellow face is there. Can't believe things would degrade that much each time I use the PC. Happens on all of them. This is petty, I know, but it is the only Con I have with the software. Maybe the parameters could be loosened a bit.

    Summary

Get it and use it you will not be disappointed.

    Version: Advanced SystemCare 6.0.8.170

    Pros

I found this program easy to use, but I am not sure that I am 100% certain that I deleted something I may need at a later time.

    Cons

With the free version you do not get all of the bells and whistles associated wit the program

    Summary

I think it accomplished what is was intended for

    Pros

Great layout, easy to use. Great features all in one application.

Been using this app for free for a while now and decided to buy the Pro version because it was on sale. It's a fantastic app that brings a lot of maintenance capabilities to one centralized app. It's very easy to use and I can highly recommend this one.

    "Destroyed the Laptop Hard Drive"

    December 23, 2012  |   By klucas54

    Version: Advanced SystemCare 6.0.8.170

    Pros

Based on this user's experience - none.

    Cons

After installing the paid version and running all the scans, the system was turned off. When it was turned back on for the first time, before Windows came up, ASC ran a defrag operation and the hard drive never recovered from there. It was completely unusable - could not recover using System Restore OR using the System Recovery disks. Hard drive diagnostics returned a "Hard Disk 1 Full (305)" error. After providing all the details to IObit Support, they played cat and mouse with emails asking for information from the affected system, which was impossible given the hard drive failure. They also would not refund my money.

    Summary

It is possible that the hard drive would have experienced a failure anyway, given the nature of laptop hard drives. However, the failure occurred directly after the installation of this software, which makes it the primary suspect. There were no apparent problems with the hard drive up to this point. The IObit Support team was less than helpful, asking for system information that was clearly not available given the total destruction of the hard drive. Given this experience, install this software at your risk. IObit will not be able to help you if your hard disk crashes. They only want your money!
