"IMPORTANT: See Summary. It IS a FREE Working Program!"
Pros
When I picked an existing folder for output and answered "NO" to the upgrade prompt it efficiently split the PDF file I chose.
Cons
The user must be savvy enough to catch the ouput file glitch or the program will appear as if it DOESN'T work.
Summary
The first time I opened the program I noticed the output folder listed was "C:\Output." I immediately changed it to my desktop, chose the four page PDF file I wanted to split, clicked "NO" to the "Free version can not support..." prompt and four smaller files appeared on my desktop as I watched. They were as crisp and clear as the original.
IMPORTANT: The other scathing reviews lead me to believe there was a glitch somewhere. I reopened the program and the output folder had automatically reset to "C:\Output." I reran my file and found that the program DID create the "C:\Output" folder automatically, BUT it WILL NOT BOTH CREATE AND FILL IT on the first attempt. I closed the program and repeated the process and yes, the file was split perfectly into the EXISTING "C:\Output" folder.
CONCLUSION: Make sure the "C:\Output" folder exists and use it every time OR change the output folder to one of your choice Each and Every Time you use the program.
NOTE: I used the program to get rid of one page of a 304KB PDF file I wanted to email to someone. I then used PDF reDirect (FREE) to merge the last 3 pages (without a glitch) to form a crisp, clear 73KB document. Kudos to the two authors that gave me what I needed for a price that can't be beat.
For the 500 page skeptic... This program is only supposed to split. I took a 38 page PDF, split it into 38 pages (into the C:\output folder), opened PDF reDirect, highlighted every other page, and merged into a document with half the pages in less than 2 minutes. Using windows shortcut keys a user could sort a 500 page document into pretty much whatever he/she wanted in short order. The programs Work Well For Free :)
