"Comes with adware which you can't opt out of. Please don't download."
Pros: Its free...but who cares. It comes with adware out the wazoo.
Cons: It comes with WhenUSave adware. In this day in age you have got to be a complete dope to even think about installing this stuff. Please avoid this software. And I'm sure its not limited to JUST WhenUSave. I would bet there is more than that in there.
Either make your program 100% clean and free, or make then 100% clean and payware. Money doesn't come free in this world. Make a quality product and people will buy it...make crap and you find illegitimate download numbers and rating trying to get you to download this junko program.

"Purely a shill for their paid product"
Pros: Wel, it will sort of play a DVD
Cons: Hi,
This plays DVD's in a small panel in at a slow rate, and constantly prompts you to upgrade to the "pro" version. A waste of time & bandwidth. If what other posters say about trojans & malware are true, then it's all bad.

Version: Advanced DVD Player 3.03
Pros: It does play movie files after fiddling with it. It's free.
Cons: Where to start . . First, the interface is awful! I have many movie/DVD/media players I've tried, and this one is one of the most difficult to use. Not intuitive at all. After selecting a few avi files to play, double clicking on them sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. The play button was grayed out so i couldn't even select that. When actually playing movie files, most of the time the players controls (stop, pause, play, etc.) were grayed out and couldn't work. No right click menu. No help file or index.
Each time when booting the program up you're asked if you want to upgrade to the pro version. I then looked up reviews of the pro version on download.com - they were mostly 1 star saying the program installs spyware and a virus. Sheesh. Then I looked at the many reviews already posted on this free product - an analysis shows that they follow a pattern that is very suspicious - lots of "reviewers" that may be employees.
As far as I know I haven't been besieged with spyware or viruses, but just based on the disappointing performance I've encountered I knew that this was one to uninstall 15 minutes after I put it on my system.

"It's not bad, but much better than Power DVD."

"Read the other bad reviews & decide"
Pros: None.
Cons: According to the bad reviews, this has spyware and other malware. The good reviews simply state " well " etc with garbage names. Obviously bogus " good " reviews. I have now lost my faith in Download.com & it's review system as it obviously means little.
