This application generates MD5 or SFV checksums and verifies the integrity of files, but unlike most competitors, Advanced Checksum Verifier works with directories. The program's main window is a bit cluttered and not truly user-friendly, but it's actually easy to operate. You can select a directory to generate a checksum file and verify its validity. Unlike similar apps, it can create one checksum file for an entire folder, one checksum file for each subfolder, or one checksum file for each file.
Advanced Checksum Verifier did well in quickly generating MD5 and SFV, and it took only a few seconds to verify their validity as well. It generates a log of events on the the interface. Unfortunately, you won't find any extras in this program--no Windows shell integration or the ability to save MD5 or SFV values into text files. Even so, we think this is a nice tool for programmers and software developers who often need to validate file integrity.

"Not Easy to Understand Warning Messages - NOT Intuitive"
Pros: Not sure - tried for 5 minutes - gave up on it. Easy install and Uninstall I suppose...
Cons: Interface not intuitive and difficult to figure out what the hundreds of Warning messages mean. I could not tell if I was successful or failed at creating and verifying the checksums. Other utilities that do the same thing are easyer to understand.
Summary: Strange Output message formatting creates confusion. Not as easy to use as some other freeware versions of checksum utilities out there. Not sure how the editors gave this 5 stars. The popup - reminder to buy this software is very annoying and pop... read more >>
