Version: Adobe Reader 9
"Adobe Reader: bloatware"
Pros: Adobe Reader has all the bells and whistles for those who make use of _all_ of full-blown Acrobat's authoring capabilities.
Cons: Adobe Reader has mushroomed into a beast of a program, with plug-ins and extensions without end. Loading is slow, and viewing is slower than it used to be. Foxit Reader is a much smaller PDF viewer with tabbed browsing and faster display performance. I would highly recommend it over Reader.

I came here to read a review of the latest Adobe Reader 9 as the program was suggesting I upgrade to it.
Thanks for recommending Foxit Reader - I've just had a look and I love the tabbed browsing and the fact that all the features are clearly laid out on the toolbar, since I've noticed previous Adobe Reader versions had toolbars with all the options but version 8 seems to hide lots of toolbar icons I wanted to see (eg. email and Snapshot tool). As a colleague complained about this, I'm sure she'll appreciate Foxit Reader too.
I agree with you about Adobe's size and complexity as I've never understood why a PDF reader program needs to be so big to download or on the hard drive.
Once again, thanks for your assistance.
