"responsible for 90% of the freezes with latest Firefox"
Version: Adobe Reader 9.1
Pros
probably the most complete pdf viewer available, was once good, before becoming a bloated piece of junkware as it's today (27 mb). Foxit proves that 5 mb are sufficient to perform a better job.
Cons
freezes Firefox when opening pdf files. Replaced it with Foxit
Summary
Was once the standard PDF viewer on all my previous systems, and never even remotedly thought about replacing it with something different. But when I had to wait longer and longer until a pdf opens, when latest versions of Firefox got constantly frozen because of Acrobat reader, it started to become a major annoyement. I searched a bit the web and found out that I wasn't alone with my problem, and replaced Acrobat Reader 9.1 with Foxit (Google it, you'll find it). Since then no more problems, Firefox works again like a charm, no more freezing, no more waiting. Toolbar of Foxit is slightly different, but you'll be familiarized in two minutes.
