"Won't Install"
Version: Adobe Reader 10.0.1
Pros
No pros to speak of since I can't get it to run.
Cons
Adobe software installs are very weak. Poor track record.
Summary
This is the second time I have tried an Adobe upgrade and it's failed again. I've had to pay for the last fix of the problem and now it looks like I'll have to pay again. Not for the novice or average PC user. I have started asking for different software for printable downloads whenever possible. Users should move to another standard.

"Poor product getting no better"
Version: Adobe Reader 9.3.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Adobe Reader has always been a bloated piece of unnecessariness.
You will notice that with the last 8 or 9 updates (basically, everything since 9.0.0 itself was released), the only changes have been security-related. This should of course raise alarm bells. It's a program for opening fracking PDF files. It's not even like a browser that does anything highly dynamic and running code. Imagine if opening an RTF file into TextEdit was as riddled with security risks as this.
Not only that, but if you have Reader 9.0.0, you literally have to install all 8, 9 or whatever updates one at a time in order to get up to 9.3.2. I was demonstrating to a co-worker and he didn't believe me, and was stunned when he saw.
The whole lot of everything about Adobe Reader (and really, Acrobat itself) is nonsensical, and it's incredible that it's been allowed to continue for so long. Stick with Preview. -
"Why on earth would you bother with this..?"
Version: Adobe Reader 9.3.1
Pros
It reads PDFs.
Cons
Bloated, slow, incomplete OS and browser integration, lacks features found in OS X Preview.
Summary
Mac OS X comes with 'Preview," which opens PDFs much faster and and with better OS and browser integration than does Adobe Reader. Not only that, Preview includes annotation tools and the ability to save filled PDF forms, things you don't find in Adobe Reader, but must pay for the full version of Acrobat to get.
A faster and better PDF readier is built into OS X, so tell me again why I should go to the trouble to download and install a larger, slower, less reliable program with fewer features for that same purpose..? -
