"Good Job Adobe !!"
Version: Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
Pros
Content Aware Fill is just awesome / High Definition Ranging and Puppet Warp is another great tool, Automatic Lens correction and also Raw image processing.
Cons
Needs a very good GPU (Video card like Nvidia / ATi ) and memory for it to perform well.
Summary
Adobe Photoshop CS5 is just a great product. Worth buying it. Recommended upgrade from Adobe CS4 and below versions. Photoshop is the best digital imaging software. Also it is faster on 64 Bit Platforms. Have a try.. You will surely love it..

"Great product and worth upgrading from CS4!!!"
Version: Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
Pros
Content Aware Filling; Menu Organization; Not a space hog!; less size on your HDD, and others I can't think of!
Cons
Well cost is always something we would like to see lower, but what can you say? It's obviously for professionals and comes at a professional price so you really can't blame them!
Summary
It is a must-buy for pros. I would suggest that regular consumers get Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements. Photoshop CS5 Extended is not for the average consumer. I would suggest that you stay away from Gimp since it's not that great and Photoshop Elements/Premiere Elements can do a lot for under $300.

"gimmicky, but gimicks you will use all the time."
Version: Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
Pros
ALmost every single new feature will add fireworks to your bag of photoshop tricks. It's much cleaned up from the previous version
Cons
It's gotten far too bloated for someone new to jump on the wagon.
Summary
If you're the type of person who keeps up with PS but skips versions that aren't necessary due to cost, this is a version to get. CS4 was easily skippable, but CS5 is a new benchmark.
-
"Very Evolutionary from CS3."
Version: Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
Pros
New features for painting, content aware, and puppet warp, are all amazing features that help you make the perfect photo.
Cons
Expensive and some features takes up more than half of my 12 GB of memory.
Summary
I was a avid CS3 user and decided not to upgrade to cs4, but when five came out, I was amazed at some the features and at how easy it was to use. I work as a professional photo editor and I use photoshop for it. It is a must have for amatuers and professionals. Of course, if you you Lightroom, nothing is wrong with sticking with that!

"Graphicalicious !"
Version: Adobe Photoshop CS5.5
Pros
Content aware fill / scale, spot healing brush tool.
Cons
$999.00 is a lot.
Summary
Adobe Photoshop doesn't need a summary, just watch some You Tube videos if you don't know what's new in CS5. I wasn't disappointed, but i went from CS3 to CS5.
