    "Adobe Flash Player Update"

    March 26, 2011  |   By Nissj

    Pros

Adobe released an update in March. to patch a vulnerability. New version is 10.2.153.1 If this is not that version, go to Adobe's website for the latest update. To check your installed version: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

    Cons

This player besides its many issues is constantly compromised, either by outside sources or vulnerabilities Adobe missed during its creation. I have had Adobe Flash installed and received a popup indicating it was not.

    Summary

I have Adobe downloaded in 3 browsers. I recently discovered Adobe's global settings affects all installations. I could not get anything but a black screen on all players until I started changing the global settings in one browser.

If you have the same issue, right click on a flash video screen and select Global Setting. The settings will open in a new tab. Using the list on the left side of the screen, select Global Storage Settings Panel. When the setting panel opens, set the disk space to 100kb less or more if you wish, and tick Allow third party flash.... and Store Common Flash..... Further below select Website Storage Setting Panel and set the storage to a number . For me sometimes this seems to make a difference, although it constantly reverts back to 0.

For local settings, right click on a flash player and select Settings. The first item, Display, for some it works when Hardware Acceleration is ticked and for some when it is not ticked. The third item, Local Storage, again set this to a number you prefer.

If you have flash player installed and continue to get the popup indicating it is not, it may help if you use the Adobe Flash removal tool (search Google), reboot, reinstall Adobe and reboot again.

I would love to get rid of Adobe Flash player, however all the other flash players are so bloated!
