    "Best choice for web designer"

by joval on April 5, 2005

Pros: Dreamweaver is the most popular web editor in the world. It has well designed and easy to use interface, many prepared scripts, very good code editor and more... Double interface (coder and designer) makes this software better than others.

    Cons: Pretty expensive

"Much improved over earlier versions, but..."

by Cheapster on August 8, 2005

Pros: Version MX 2004 has a much better interface than previous versions. It still needs a lot of work, but at least most routine operations don't make you open a dozen menus any more. The code and CSS validation are welcome and accurate, and styles and tags are now displayed much more accurately than they used to be.

Cons: Good god, is this thing bloated, though. The program and its price tag are way too big for the utility it offers underneath all those (dubious) bells and whistles. Even with the improved interface, there are some tasks that are easier with Notepad than they are with Dreamweaver. I wonder if Dreamweaver would be anywhere near as popular if the trial version were not so easily hacked to disable the time-out..?

They're never going to get me to pay four bills for this program. I'm with CNet, and wish Macromedia would offer a smaller and more sanely-priced version, without so much useless fluff.

    "Not for newbies"

    by T.i.P. on February 16, 2007

Pros: It is very powerful and you can do almost anything you want when you learn how to. The tabs go away to show more of the page itself when you want to work on it. The pre-made templates are nice and having the option to have all different kinds of pages it helpful when you first start off.

Cons: I had people constantly telling me to use Dreamweaver for my site. Well, I did, and now I feel like I need to take a class on it. I'm not completely new to HTML editing, or designing websites, but Dreamweaver has so many things on it, it takes a while to get used to. Also, the ftp uploading is very strange and I've just decided to use FileZilla instead.

"Better than Frontpage but it loads slowlier"

by animamia on September 13, 2006

Pros: It's better than Frontpage, I think. It offers better look and is professional. It's the one for pro.

Cons: But it loads slowlier than Frontpage. Sometimes my PC doesn't respond.
