"Great tool"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 8.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is the best there is. Workgroup cooperative development and notes in design, code or both. If we want to tweak some code in some special way, Dreamweaver is very forgiving (this is where other fail miserably). Add "Contribute" to the mix and now we now have all staff updating and editing. This product has saved us a fortune in development time. Although we have been using Dreamweaver for years, Version 8 has so many new features that we discover something new everyday. I just pray that Adobe doesn't screw it up... as coders, the last thing we need is another Go Live. -
"Worth the Upgrade... so far"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 8.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've been using Dreamweaver 8 for the past week for a project and can definitely say it was worth the money. I got it as part of the Studio 8 package. It's much faster than 7 when designing and working with CSS. So I'm no longer looking at some of the alternatives. Love the 'new' (Windows users had it last go around)Tab interface for having multiple docs open. My only grips, are the lack of any kind of printed material in the box and the waste of a second disc labeled "Additional Content" that has three PNG files. It was a bit annoying having to download the PDFs for each of the programs from online. They could've gone on the second disc. -
"Getting worse with every version.."
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 7.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have to say, I've been using Dreamweaver on the Mac since version 1.0 and have looked forward to every version until around version 4. Ever since, Macromedia has taken a larger step backwards in terms of usability, reliabily and the whole user experience in general. Each version since 4 has been getting slow and more bug-ridden, and they won't even acknowledge these problems even when dozens of people report the exact same issues! You know what the worst part is, as much of a steaming pile of feces this offering is, it's still one of the better ones out there (that's NOT a compliment). Macromedia has all but forgot about quality and more interested in outsourcing the work to india where the quality of work is sub-par to say the least.
This is the last piece of MM software I'll ever spend my money on. Thanks Macromedia, now I have to go bath myself to purge the cloud of stench permiating from the Dreamweaver box.

"I have just about given up on DreamWeaver"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 7.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I am completly fed up with this program. Dreamweaver is one of the worst written pieces of software, ever. Aren't there any other Web Development Apps out there!?!?!? As far as functionality and editing goes, I haven't found a Web Development app that can beat Dreamweaver... Which is a huge problem because DreamWeaver is constantly crashing. My DreamWeaver Crashlog is over 5 megabytes and over 77 pages long! I am constantly losing work, I have to reinstall frequently and this doesn't fx the situation. Tech support won't help. DO NOT purchase DreamWeaver. PLEASE, someone build a better Web Development program! -
"Very buggy"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 7.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I used Dreamweaver for years and this is the first version I ever returned. It crashes more often than not and is virtually unusable. I went back to version 6 have had no trouble. I can't recommend this version at all. Even the support didn't help. -
"Could this get any worse?"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 7.0.1

Could this program be a bigger piece of crap? Thank God I still have version 6.1. The program simply quits on startup. No message - nothing. The updates makes no difference. Someone should sue these people... -

"Still Buggy and unaccepatbly slow"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 7.0.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Although this update does make it a little speedier, the app is still unacceptably slow and very buggy. I am just reinstalling it because, for no reason at all, it lost all its Javascript funcionality. Now I get errors when trying to do anything from opening a document to saving to using a behaviour.
Thank goodness I switched to BBEdit, a very robust app. But I still need Dreamweaver for the more challenging graphical layouts. I recommend to people to switch to BBEdit.
It is very sad to see such a fine app neglected in this way. The PC version does not exhibit any of these problems. It seems that Macromedia are going the Adobe route (sigh). -
"Don't update then..."
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 2004
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I don't have any problems with bugs or speed in DW 2004 and I haven't updated to 7.01 ( I have a Powerbook G4 400Mhz with 768MB). If any of the "slow as molasses" problems are real, then I see no reasons to update. I do think still that DW is very usable and competent web development app and still better than golive. For Macromedia Fireworks 2004 though I had to go back to the first MX version as the 2004 edition really was "slow as molasses" to be totally unusable. -
"sad app"
Version: Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 7.0.1
Summary

slow as mollasses, apparent memory leaks that sucks down cpu (thanks for using the most unreliable browser - opera (V6 no less) - as the background rendering engine).
why oh why does it take 20 plus seconds second to cold launch on a 1 Ghz aluminum powerbook with 1 gig of ram?
I have to use this for work and it doesn't speed productivity - it slows it down.
hmmm, how much money have I given macromedia over the years. for sure this will be the last I spend on dreamweaver.
MM you need to rewrite this dfrom the ground up and take a tip from adobe on clean interfaces, docking panels to the side of the screen, and implementation of opera's the small rendering engine. You would think you'd be concerned that the VT rating is 2, wouldn't you?
