"Great teaching tool if you devote time to learn it."
Version: Adobe Captivate 5.5
Pros
Simple and direct in creating Quizzes and lessons
Great user's support.
Has numerous advance(script and variables)capabilities
Multi-platform delivery (windows, mac)
If using it commercially, then the price is right
No problem with WIN 7-64
Almost limitless as a teaching toolCons
Limitation on Quiz slides unless you use the advance interaction.
Summary
I've been using Captivate since CP4, CP5.5 is an incredible step up in ease of use, performance and advance functions. I did not use CP4 commercially because of numerous limitations, but CP5 offers so much that I started migrating most of my publications to SWF and FLV for the Windows and Mac platforms. Great work Adobe

"Very disappointed, poor performance, limited capability"
Version: Adobe Captivate 5.5
Pros
Able to convert commonly used PowerPoint presentation into static image and include the questions created by build-in quiz function
Able to create video tutorials for software.Cons
Poor performance
Timeline hide/show and lock always behave incorrectly
No zoom to display canvas
Cannot lock objects
Cannot group objects
Align tools don't behave accordingly at times
Rollover for image is different from buttons
No drawing tools, to create even a simple rectangle.(Basic shapes)
Cannot have interactive object in master slideSummary
Basically its exactly the same as a PowerPoint, just with added video export and quizzes.
Its a program meant for dummy who can't use more powerful application for better interactivity.
If its just for simple animation, video tutorial or presentation with add-on quiz capability, use it.
Otherwise there's plenty better other tools out there.
The money is just not worth when you can make do with simple PowerPoint presentation. -
