Version: Adobe After Effects 6.5
Pros: Wow! The best video editor and special effects creator I've EVER seen! It takes a little getting used too but once you learn it, you'll wish you had the full version!
Extremely easy to copy stuff you see on TV. Stuff like, split screening, transitions, credits, intros, and if you're good enough and experienced, Star Wars lightsabers, cloning, ghost effects,(see through people) and much more! I can't recommend this product highly enough! Way to go, Adobe! (Now if you could just lower the price...)
Cons: Like I said up there, the price is the only downside. Even though it IS worth $700.00, who could afford it?!

Version: Adobe After Effects 7
Pros: After Effects made the most significant changes from version 6.0. Version 7 introduces us to pre-made background animations for producers in a pinch. The redesigned interface on this and Premiere Pro allows for a less cluttered workspace, and the new graph editor feature provides more control over keyframes for those who are detail-oriented.
Cons: You have to get the Production Studio bundle in order to take advantage of the Dynamic Link feature, otherwise you're still stuck with waiting to render a composition before importing it into a video editing program.

Version: Adobe After Effects 7
Pros: I liked this program a lot. I used it to make star wars lightsabers and many other things.
Cons: I didn't like the 30-day trial crap.
Some of us don't have $700 dollars to spend on this program.

Version: Adobe After Effects 6.5
"I'm in love with this program!"
Pros: Adobe After Effects, to me, is one element in the Adobe video "trifecta", the others being Premiere and Photoshop (nvm what version it is). The fact is, After Effects' capability of working in 2D and 3D space presents hundreds if not thousands of possibilites television and movie producers can use to create professional CG effects. For example, did you know you can use the Radio Waves filter in version 6.5 to create smoke?
If you decide to acquire AE, get Photoshop as well. If you import a Photoshop image that you want to change and have a version of Photoshop on your computer, AE will allow you to edit the PSD image in Photoshop itself. Neat huh?
Cons: The con is, well, 3D space. Even with the CC filters, any 3D effect you implement on After Effects is taken as a "flat", not abiding by the laws of three-dimensional physics. It's a drawback that can make AE look overrated for its price.
