    "30-day trial expires too soon"

    August 11, 2004  |

Version: Adobe Acrobat XI Pro 6.0

    Summary

The product was great, however, after using it for 2 days the software informed me that my number of alotted days had been used. Not so great for a 30-day trial.

"but... 200 Mb to convert files in pdf?"

    August 10, 2004  |   By DarkNoir

Version: Adobe Acrobat XI Pro 6.0

    Summary

The program is easy to use, and it's interface is nearly good. The bad thing is that 200 Mb, with low speed DSL is too slow to download, and it take several minutes to install. In the license it says free to try, it must say 30 days trial...
Whatever, this program is very usefull to convert our files and distribute them: merge writer and reader, I like it!

"Acrobat Free Trial might be ok if you can download it"

    June 8, 2004  |

Version: Adobe Acrobat XI Pro 6.0

    Summary

After 12 attempts over a 9 hour period to download the Acrobat 6.0 Professional free 30 day trial from the Adobe website, including 2 calls to their customer service, we've all but given up. We were intrigued by the latest marketing hype surrounding the new Acrobat 6.0 and its potential for benefitting our company, however our download experience has been abysmal leaving us to question the very technology we seek to evaluate. Is Adobe aware that its latest technological wonder is being soured by a substandard download experience? After several unsuccessful download attempts we called Adobe customer service for help. We did everything we were instructed to do to speed the download (turned off virus scanners, spam blockers, screen savers, screen refreshers etc. etc.) though nothing changed and they don't know why! I was however informed that I could pay to speak to a tech support specialiist who might be able to help me. (A) "might" be able to help us?, (B) we're attempting to evaluate this product FOR PURCHASE! - why should our company pay for pre-sale support??? Is this the type of support available to potential buyers of multiple licenses?

Understand, we're using a high speed DSL connection and have never before had a problem downloading apps twice as large as Acrobat from the likes of Dell, Microsoft, etc.

Supposedly Adobe has a Download Manager that manages the download and resumes a download where it left off should it be interrupted, however this supposed Download Manager is nowhere to be found on our PC. Perhaps it's incompatible with XP? We checked the Add/Remove & no such app is installed and every download attempt thus far has ended when we receive either a message stating that the connection to Adobe servers "Timed Out" or the download screen simply stops counting down. Then the download restarts all over again from the beginning.

If you're willing to buy based upon good will we suggest skipping the trial, taking the leap of faith and purchasing it from Costco (best price) - then if the product experience is as bad as our download experience you can take it back to your local store & get your money back without the hassle potentially awaiting you if you buy from the Adobe Store.

Oops, looks like our latest download attempt has timed out. Better back up & start again.
