"It provided the dirvers I needed to get a program to work"

    December 14, 2007  |   By martinleighsimon

Version: Adaptec ASPI Drivers (Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP) 4.71.2

    Cons

It would have been nice if the installation process started with a menu and was more automated. As it was, it unzipped a bunch of files to a folder on my hard drive and I had to locate the folder and figure out what program to use to install the drivers.

"What's up with the 3.5 star rating? Seek another solution"

    December 19, 2006  |   By jswitz

Version: Adaptec ASPI Drivers (Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP) 4.71.2

    Pros

    Nothing

    Cons

At the beginning of this review, I see 12 reviews & 13 votes (1 vote without review). TEN posts rated this ONE star, 2 rated 5 stars. One 5 star rating was from someone who hadn't used the download yet, the other said "probably will not install correctly" and recommends another solution. HOW does this = 3.5 stars?? Do the math. 20/12 = 1.67 stars! Why publish incorrect ratings? When over 80% of reviewers say it doesn't work and/or causes serious problems, I'd consider another solution.

"Id recommend that anyone install these...they are good for your system."

    January 25, 2006  |   By CableguyTK

Version: Adaptec ASPI Drivers (Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP) 4.71.2

    Pros

    They are free.

They are from the authority in cd drive management (hell, they are the ones who made Easy CD Creator for Roxio to buy out).

They should/could improve drive performance in Windows.

    Cons

Not necessary. Not to say this is a bad thing, but you don't NEED to download them to get things to work in your system.

They probably wont install properly, which is where the program ForceASPI comes in: force_aspi_18.w.interia.pl

    They require a reboot :).

"This product didn't work for me."

    December 9, 2005  |   By djpicton

Version: Adaptec ASPI Drivers (Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP) 4.71.2

    Cons

I installed this product (on a Windows XP system) to allow unprivileged users to use IsoBuster. This didn't work, so I tried installing version 4.6 using ForceASPI. Now it all works.

    Pros

    None

    Cons

This is bad bad bad bad. never use unless you REALLY need it. As all the other reviews said it messes up your computer. Download forceASPI and run, in this order: dumpaspi.bat, killaspi.bat and killdump.bat. If i have this wrong plz write the correct directions in a new review :-)
