"Would love to go back to Ad-Aware SE instead"
Lack of previously free features unless you upgrade ($).
Unresponsive during a scan.
No improvement in speed.
It may be more user friendly to someone who has never used it, or only used the smart-scan. I've used ad-aware for several years, and have loved having the ability to choose which folders to scan. Now the "customization" requires purchasing the pro version.
I've also had problems with updating. I'm used to always telling it to update, and when I do on the new version, it tells me it can't because the server is busy. It then pops up another update window. I think it is auto-updating while I'm trying to manually update, causing a conflict.
Every version prior to this one has been very slow on every computer I've run them on. However, the product has been thorough, and I could always click "Cancel" and stop the current search at that point and remove anything detected up to that point. This version is not only as slow as the predecessors, it has been unresponsive during scans.
I've run this on a couple of my computers, but the ones with SE will NOT get updated to 2007. In my opinion, they put a prettier face on a stripped down product to get people who want options that used to be free to pay for the plus or pro editions. I'm happy that I can still fall back on Spybot S&D.
