It removes ad-ware.
Cons
The new GUI is a drag on the system, with a lot of unnecessary effects. Plain, simple, integrity is lost. Updates are more complicated. Scanning is not any faster than the old SE version. Setup is deceptive in that one gets the idea that there is no free version. Installing from a file on a network drive can be problematic. Nothing improved about it, from this perspective.

It is not a totally invasive program like the Norton or Macafee programs that slow down your computer. It is easy to install, update and protect your computer from all those evil spy bots out there.
Cons
It is difficult to find the home/personal version on the internet. What I mean is that you have to have alot of patience to scoot around the C-Net Ad-Aware web site and you have to be careful you don't get lured into buying something you do not want. Additionally the GUI on the software has a confusing system of dealing with updates - - - have your marketing people watch while someone tries to negotiate your website and find it in just a few seconds without coaching.

Its very fast and a sleek interface and is through in its scanning of all programs and files.
Cons
It was once one of the best free antispyware programs out there but now it is not keepind up with others like AVG antispyware free and windows defender, lavasoft needs to hurry and make Ad-Aware 2008 or they are going to be left in the dust. It does not find all the spyware that other programs find nor does it scan fast at all, It needs to include Vista compatibility or it is going to be far outclassed

Pros
I have been using the free version for sometime. I recommend it to all of my family and just recently helped my dad (whose 80) download it to his computer. It's reliable and easy to use but it's up to you to run it since the free version doesn't have a "scheduler". Be smart and use it!

You have to remember to stop the "aaw2007" service in the Services section of the Administrator Tools, or this will load every time you start your PC. In the free version, you can't schedule scans or auto updates anyway, so this is a waste of system resources. Since I only use this occasionally, I set this to "Manual" and then stop the service, but it has to be done after each use, as it resets and re-asserts itself. A bit obnoxious, if not annoying, yet it's still a small price to pay for this useful free tool...
