Version: Activeworlds 4.1
"Limitless"
Pros: If you are into 3D modeling and Art, this program allows you to make any virtual environment that you can think of. You'll just need some space somewhere on the internet to hold your models and graphics, then get your own world(or a 1 month trial) and build whatever you want and share it with anyone you want anywhere in the world where the internet can be accessed. You can use the world as a chat environment, or use it to show off your work, or even show off your art in a virtual gallery style. Worlds and places can be linked by teleports, and animation can be done by the use of simple script commands added to your models inworld. And, if you are skilled enough, you can even make your own games in these enviroments, from RPG's, board games, and even arcade style games with the use of Bot's that you can program in C++/Net and even Visual Basic. The only limitation is your own skill.
Cons: Lacks many features of more traditional chat clients. You can type and chat in person(avatar to avatar) or you can whisper privately while in the same area of a world. You may also send telegrams to others similar to an ICQ client, but without any advanced features at all.
