Version: Active@ Kill Disk - Hard Drive Eraser 1.1
"There are good ways erasing your HD but this isn't one of them."
Pros: It's free and does a fair job as a low-level erasing software.
Cons: This fact really needs to be put in the description but this free version only allows the all-zero single pass option and does NOT allow you to perform the advertised DoD level cleaning. And before some of you guys try the "But the manual says" excuse, TRY the software itself and see where that gets you. It's clear the manual was written for the full version which this free version is NOT. There are other softwares that offer free and better level of cleaning (namely Eraser). Considering the other options, I don't see a reason to go for this one other than simplicity and ease of use neither of which are a good tradeoff for the low level of protection this software offers.

Version: Active@ Kill Disk - Hard Drive Eraser 1.1
Pros: i was looking to clean my hard drive. it did it. this is not recommended for the novice user, needs one to know what he/she is doing in dos. especially when trying to install an operating system afterwards. You need a windows boot disk (in floppy A) and your operating system disk in the cdrom drive. OR, you can choose for kill disk to provide the drivers for your cd rom drive to work. I think u need to be an moderate user or more in order to use this program. also, notice that this does not securely rewrite your files several times, you will need the paid edition for that. thanks.

Version: Active@ Kill Disk - Hard Drive Eraser 1.1
"Free download is demo, very limited"
Pros: An excellent program at the commercial level providing a number of mil-spec features accessible from removeable bootable media.
Cons: The "free" downloadable version presented here only provides "one pass zero" writes. Hardly adaquate for secure disk overwrites.

Version: Active@ Kill Disk - Hard Drive Eraser 1.1
Pros: NONE
Cons: Don't pay for the full version, I did but I never received anything. They said they never received my payment, so I sent them a copy of my bank statement plus several emails complaining and they just totally ignored me. So my advice is to AVOID THESE PEOPLE LIKE THE PLAGUE. One finale note, the free version is rubbish.

Version: Active@ Kill Disk - Hard Drive Eraser 1.1
Pros: Did the job erasing boot info that a normal disk format did not.
Cons: Of course it's very slow.. and only one pass of zero's option is available in free version.. and that's the fastest option. LOL!!
