"We prepaid for a Mac version 5 mo. ago = vaporware!"
Version: ActionOutline Pro 2.1
Pros
Have enjoyed the Windows version. It's easy to use, and helps one of my clients [who has ADD] keep track of themes and priorities.
I've used it to write some "help" files for non-techies.
Like the ability to "paste-as-sibling" to reorganize material.Cons
5 months after paying for a Family pack Mac version, it has yet to be produced! Numerous emails asking about a release date have *never* received a response. As an experienced QA person, I have even offered to be a beta tester... no response.
Although, we like the product, I am very disappointed by the company's failure to respond to customer email, or make an announcement.
Features I wish it had: a date stamp for each "item", and ability for an "item" to be a single linked "item" that can appear in more than one document. -
"No enhancement since 2004"
Version: ActionOutline Pro 2.1
Pros
Works 1/10 of your expectations. Speedy.
Cons
Items and subitems cannot be color coded therefore useful for very few entries. You need to remember where things are. Slow search. One database at a time. Poor rtf, HTML handling.

"Expensive, "too old" (lack of functions)"
Version: ActionOutline Pro 2.1
Pros
A simple PIM with a clear interface. Correct if you only want to manage... text only.
Cons
ActionOutline Pro is VERY expensive compared to other PIMs (Personal Information Managers). There are a lot of much better programs available for about $30. At this time, the program is really "no more interesting" if you are looking for a good PIM. May be compared to Jot+ Notes for the following reasons: few updates, really "old" compared to the other PIMs (most of them propose a lot of useful and helpful details that you won't find in ActionOutline / ActionOutline Pro), almost unable to manage pictures, almost no format supported for import / export... I keep searching, I really don't understand why this program is so expensive. So few updates that sometimes you could think that the development has stopped! You can try approximately any other PIM (=don't waste your time with this one), you'll probably never choose this one: KeyNote (still freeware), My Notes Center (excellent!), My Notes Keeper (excellent!), GoldenSection Notes (very good program!), MyInfo (good program but too expensive too), Maple Professional (good program but lacks some useful functions compared to the others).

"Worth checking out"
Version: ActionOutline Pro 2.1
Pros
I know there are a lot of outline utils out there that I have not used, and some of them very fancy even. This is simple and easy and yet powerful enough for me to recommend anyone seeking same should at least try it.
Cons
None that I know of.
