ActiCalc is an easy-to-use general-purpose desktop calculator. Its major feature is a visual calculation tape that behaves like a spreadsheet, recording all calculations and permitting prior entries to be updated. This tape has one-click integration with Microsoft Excel to allow simple calculation sequences to seamlessly evolve into complex spreadsheets. Version 2.4 introduces a small window mode that is activated with a simple toggle button. Version 2.5 enables users to cycle through any recently saved calculation tapes with one mouse click.

"Great adding machine program, but no longer supported."

Pros
I enjoyed using this program for several years. The built-in Windows calculator is good for quick calculations, but when adding a lot of numbers, being able to see the numbers you've input is great, especially when you can correct a mistyped number and instantly see the updated results. You can also type in comments for each entry so you can keep straight in your head what is being calculated.
Cons
No longer supported by the developers, and no way to disable reminder to go to the website to check for updates.
Summary
Acticalc is one of the best programs of its type I have used. However, it is no longer supported according to the website at www.acticalc.com. This is too bad because as of this writing, I have not found another program that does the same thing simply and well. This program cost $25 to register, but I suppose that is the risk you take with any software you purchase. I would love to be able to find a free replacement. I have an old copy that works well except for occasional annoying reminders to check the website for a newer version. Unfortunately, there is no way to disable this reminder even with the program registered.

"3 minute trial period is useless"

Cons
I was barely given the chance to use this product. I entered in several lines of simple adding functions, and after about 3 minutes of use, the $25 registration window popped up. I tried closing it, but it kept popping up, and I was not allowed to use it any further.
