    "Fantastic Software"

    August 23, 2010  |   By Marrian

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

Intuitive interface, good help file, awsome features

    Cons

None so far except for some useless context menu entries which I got rid of fairly easily by tweaking the registry

    Summary

Don't know about all the negative reviews here, I guess it depends how and for what purpose you are employing your software. As for myself I can state that I have been using Acronis for more than 4 years now especially for System Partition Backup and from my dozens of restore I had never encountered a single failure. Also the new Try and Decide feature works flawlessly so far

"Doesn't play well with Win 7 Pro 64-bit"

    August 17, 2010  |   By LarryGHowell

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

    Nothing notable

    Cons

Some how Acronis corrupted the Windows activation registry key. Fortunately, I was able to use System Restore to return the PC to the pre-Acronis State.

    Summary

If you're really bored and want to spend a lot of time and effort working with Acronis Tech Support (do it in the first 30 days or you will be charged), then this is the product for you!

"Totally useless piece of crap, no joke don't waste time"

    August 9, 2010  |   By theduggler

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

    hahahahahahahahahahahaha

    Cons

Setup dual boot machine with True Image Home 11 (previous version). Installed True Image Home 2010 to get Windows 7 support. Just installing the software ruins the boot manager (OS Select) setup of the previous version. Totally useless crap ***.

    Summary

2010 crashes trying to create boot media. Backup image made of Windows 7 from a clean install crashes when trying to restore from boot media. Crashes when trying to restore when booted from Hard drive, with no error telling you to try external media. The whole thing is a joke. Tried with multiple systems all totally bone stock Dell machines, nothing fancy. Find another product. Going to look for one now.

    "Completely Useless"

    August 6, 2010  |   By car57whereareyou

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

    Cheaper than the previous version.

    Cons

    Barely works.

    Summary

TI (true image) 11 was great but TI 2010 is dreadful, it barely works, if at all.

I bought it to back up a new HP laptop - Windows 7 OS, and like the previous edition which worked perfectly (with Vista), I decided to do a few 'full disc recoverys' to make sure it was working correctly and to get used to the interface after I installed it. This is what I have found:

Recovery wont start unless from a windows reboot and even then, sometimes it wont.

Acronis loader unreliable, sometimes it wont start at all, sometimes it starts but wont initiate a recovery.

It wont recover from a backup unless that back up is stored in the secure zone - and only then from Windows so if Windows fails to boot, TI becomes useless.

It wont create a secure zone on my main hdd, i've had to make one on an external hdd.

If I try to remove the secure zone it removes the secure zone but leaves the partition in place and is only detectable using the secure zone manager.

Since attempting to back up the main (C:) drive again on an ext hdd, although the opperation was apparently sucsessful (according to the on screen prompt), it wont recover from it.

Since doing that, it wont perform a recovery from the secure zone now, either from the bootable media or from the Windows enviroment so in short, nothing works.

In addition, it takes ages to discover the backups in the secure zone and every click takes ages to respond to, often it just hangs for no apparent reason.

TI may work with certain Windows operating systems but it doesn't work with my version of Windows 7.

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

    Pretty interface

    Cons

It is ridiculously slow backing up. If you want to validate the backup be prepared to wait a long time.

    Summary

"Once WAS great... now, not so good."

    July 31, 2010  |   By rae2_2

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

    Looks great!

    Cons

Doesn't work on my system. That's about as "con" as it gets.

    Summary

I used previous versions to image my hard drives with no problems whatever. Then I paid over $50 to upgrade to Home 2010 version and it hasn't worked since. I have Seagate SATA II drives, both internal and external. True Image "fails to read" ALL of them. From what I've read, I'm not the only one with problems getting True Image to read SATA drives. I'm unwilling to spend hours...days... trying to debug THEIR product and PAY FOR IT as well. Their tech support is, at best, vague... probably because they haven't a clue why it doesn't work either. I'm not even going to bother trying to a refund as that's likely to involve many more hours of MY TIME.

"acronis causes my external hard drive to damage itself"

    July 24, 2010  |   By docholidayz

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

I WILL NEVER LOAD YOUR SOFTWARE AGAIN, TAKING MY CHANCES WITH JUST BACKING UP FOLDERS

    Cons

This 15 day trial is a waste of time, reset my computer and gets to the fourth step and causes hard drive disk clatter and just wastes your time. CNET made a mistake with this one.

    Summary

Not anything I would waste my money on for a one time use. Based on the trial I would never, ever install this software on my computer again. Still wondering if I have external hard drive damage.

"Waste of money, waste of time."

    July 6, 2010  |   By sellabuick

Version: Acronis True Image Home 2010

    Pros

Many options for the ways to backup and archive: data only, system settings, entire disk image, etc. I did use it to create a disk image once and it worked great.

    Cons

After creating only 2 backup archives, the software suddenly stopped working correctly.

    Summary

The software now "hangs" when I try to archive, and the only solution I have found is to turn off all compression settings. This in turn has created massive backup files on my backup drive, which in turn corrupted the drive. I now have to completely wipe my backup drive, buy new archiving software that actually works, and start from scratch. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I am now searching for software that actually works.
