"Just say "NO" to Acronis 2012"
Pros
I've heard their 2011 version is pretty decent, but this version is worse than terrible.
Cons
Worst version Acronis has ever released. c|net should be truly ashamed of themselves for rating it five stars. It isn't worth even one. I gave it half a star because I couldn't rate it lower than that. If it were up to me, this product would rate a minus five for all the grief and torment it caused me and other users.
Summary
Home Image 2012 is by far the worst version Acronis has ever released. I guess the executives who own the company believe they need to keep adding worthless features year after year to keep their sales revenues high. Do yourself a BIG favor, and steer clear of it. I've heard the 2011 version is decent, but you cannot buy it now. You can download it, but that's it. You can't even TRY the 2011 version! I noticed there are pirated keys on youtube for that version, but I'm opposed to doing that.
If you'd like further proof that Acronis Home Image 2012 is total garbage, browse on over to Amazon and look at the reviews. The bad outnumber the good by over 2-to-1. When you consider many of the good reviews are written by Acronis employees, you realize this is a really bad product. Really, really bad!!!
If you own a Western Digital drive, you can download and use a free version on WD's website which works well. It's an old version upgraded to work with Vista and Windows7. For me, this was the answer. I don't want a gazillion worthless bells and whistles whistles. Just give me a stable backup and restore which actually works and I'm a happy camper.
