Version: Acoustica MP3 CD Burner 4.01 build 115
"Affordable CD Burner With Some Very Unique Features"
Pros: The big plus with Acoutica MP3 CD Burner is it's ability to create "mix" CD's with very precise crossfades and other audio effects. Most of the popular audio formats (mp3, wav, ogg, wma) are supported by the burning engine so in most cases there's no need to re-convert the audio files stored on your computer. At first glance the user-interface seems a bit akward but becomes fairly intuitive once you've got a few burns under your belt. If you like the idea of "mix" capabilities (and other audio effects such as "EQ") integrated within your burning application, Acoustica provides a vialble alternative to larger, more expensive "suite" programs like Roxio EMC 8.
The publisher provides a quick response to tech-support issues and also hosts a web board discussion forum.
Cons: The biggest problem I have with this program is it's reliance on the Goldenhawk burning engine which requires the user to install "drive updates" in order to use the latest CDRW/DVDRW burners. Although Goldenhawk is a well respected engine, they don't provide updates often enough (the last one was over 7 months ago) so you might be relegated to using the internal drive that was originally supplied with your computer. That said, Acoustica does offer optional (free) software to correct this ("gear drivers") however certain features of program may be compromised or disabled. As the publisher suggests, download the trial version before ordering.
Also, when using an audio CD as your source, the files must first be converted to a supported format such as wav, mp3, wma, or ogg. This ability is integrated within the program however it requires additional time.

Pros: No problem with download, installation was perfect, and using it gave no problems.
I have ripped 16 cd's, burned 8 cd's with no failures.
I have transferred ripped files to an MP3 player without any problems.
After two days trying it, because I was so impressed, I purchased it
Cons: I have not found any problems with this program.
