    June 29, 2011  |   By tonic2

Version: AbsoluteTelnet Telnet / SSH / SFTP Client 9.18

    Pros

None - didn't get past the license download

    Cons

Installation too annoying to bother with the demo.
Spawns several website pages (on install, to get demo license, on uninstall)... ahhh

"The very best SSH and telnet client you will find."

    March 31, 2009  |   By loyalfan1

Version: AbsoluteTelnet Telnet / SSH / SFTP Client 7.18

    Pros

Very configurable. I like that I can color code each connection so at a glance I know if this is a production environment or development environment. Copy and Paste on the right click saves typing and time. The tabbed interface saves desktop room.

    Cons

Minor annoyance: SFTP runs as part of the main window not as independent. However the sftp is such a great bonus this is just an annoyance, not a problem.

    Summary

I tried probably 15 recommended SSH clients before selecting this one. Hands down it is the best. You can do your own investigation and if you give this product a fair test you will send your money to Brian.

"Compact, easy to use, great emulation"

    October 17, 2008  |   By sheehanje

Version: AbsoluteTelnet Telnet / SSH / SFTP Client 6.28

    Pros

Very easy to use. Solid Emulation. SFTP now built in. Serial, SSH1 and SSH2 is great for Cisco shops. On the fly terminal resizing.

    Cons

SFTP still has some bugs and is slower than using free utilities like WinSCP
Should auto sense SSH1 or SSH2
    Occasional crashes using SFTP
Cut and Paste should use standard cut and paste keys

    Summary

I've been using Absolute Telnet for years. It now supports SFTP, but still needs a lot of bugs worked out with that. This is by far the best emulation product I've used, and I've used everything from Procomm to miniterm to Putty. Tabbed interface makes working on multiple devices easy. I use this to connect to Cisco equipment as well as Linux hosts (especially VMWare ESX hosts). I've even used this to connect to some old BBS's and for nostaligic sake I downloaded some old Apogee games via Zmodem.. One of my favorite features is the automatic terminal resizing and ease of changing fonts, a la the terminials found in most Linux distrubutions.

My only wish list items are tftp client/server bundled in for working with Cisco, and a Linux port to replace the hideous xminiterm.....

I would rate this as 5 stars as a pure emulator, but it does include SFTP which needs to be refined, so I'm rating the whole package as 4 stars.

"Rock solid product, and stellar support"

    May 16, 2008  |   By kelvin0mql

Version: AbsoluteTelnet Telnet / SSH / SFTP Client 6.28

    Pros

Everything I've ever wanted to configure or customize about how it works, it can. Yet it's not bloated with a bunch of un-necessary features. It has exactly what I need in an SSH and SFTP client, works every time, never crashes, never gives me trouble. Incredibly intuitive, too. Everything is where I'd expect it'd be. Simply brilliant.

"When only the Best will do"

    December 4, 2007  |   By BlueSteelAU

Version: AbsoluteTelnet Telnet / SSH / SFTP Client 6.01

    Pros

I've used Absolute Telnet for at least 2 years and it just gets better and better. Its the only Telnet/SSH client that i've found that can do everything, including using the mouse if the term client /server accepts it.. its extreamly configurable and now with Tabbed Windows and the SFTP client built in soon I won't need a seperate FTP client . so its also cutting down on the number of programs i need on my system to do my work ;)

They also have an online forum for users in which you can even talk to and get help and extra features direct from the Author of the software.

Its so good that i've even become a reseller of it.. and those who know me know that I don't sell anything that i don't use and recommend

"THE BEST Client and Always Getting Better. Perfect Service as Always"

    November 27, 2007  |   By carotevi

Version: AbsoluteTelnet Telnet / SSH / SFTP Client 6.01

    Pros

What do I like about this software? EVERYTHING! I have been using Absolute Telnet since version 3 and yesterday I downloaded version 6. I use it no less than twenty times a day and sometimes up to 50 times a day. It has every feture I have ever needed and a lot of fetures that I never even use. They add new fetures all the time and never quit making it better. I use a lot of software and Absolute Telnet is one of the best for quality, fetures, constant updates and GREAT service.

Oh and the new SFTP in version 6 is such a big help in my work that I can't brag enough about it.

If you use a SSH client on a PC and don't try Absolute Telnet you need to go to a doctor and get checked out ;-)

    Cons

What do I not like about this software? I don't know.... I've used it for years and it has never crashed a single time. I have ran it on (i think) windows 95, win 98, win me, windows server 2000, windows server 2003, win 2000, win xp, windows vista and you can even run it off of a flash drive.

I guess the worst thing that I don't like about it is that it won't wash my car and cook meals for me ;-)
