This free, bare-bones file shredder does what it promises, but several issues make us take pause. Since it possesses few features beyond its main job, most users won't have a problem operating the interface. You can add files to shred by browsing your PC or right-clicking on a document, but you cannot destroy entire folders. AbsoluteShield File Shredder can perform either two or seven cleaning passes, but other applications let you wipe data many more times. It's a shame you can't choose from multiple government-approved deletion methods, but the fact the help files don't tell you the name of the default algorithm is an even bigger misstep. Clearly, the program isn't ideal for paranoiacs who work with top-secret data, but home users seeking a no-cost, simple shredder are likely to find it suitable.Publisher's description

Version: AbsoluteShield File Shredder 1.41
"Very good product/ignore the false malware reviews"
Pros: Very good simple program seems to do the job.
As stated in other reviews about this product containing spyware I took the liberty of emailing sys-sheild and got the following reply:
----------------
"There is NO keylogger in our product, nor any spyware/adware. The claim is by a unreliable spyware/adware removal program and what you need is to throw away such spyware/adware removal tool.

SysShield Consulting, Inc." ----------------
Also there is no note of any othe programs with in the user agreement.
I think some people need to take another look into what anti-malware programs they use if there throwing up false results.
Cons: Its a free program so I can't complain but it would be nice if it had an option to clean up your freespace but i would never expect a free program to be able to do this.

Version: AbsoluteShield File Shredder 1.41
"Download FileShredder Instead"
Cons: (1)
AbsoluteShield File Shredder is only equipped with two wiping algorithms while FileShedder, developed by FileShredder.org, have seven algorithms available. Not even to mention its inability to wipe entire folder. Why settle for half-baked application when others could have done the job much better?
(2)
With several anti-spywares programs detecting the existence of malware within this application, I would shred this application with another application named FileShredder. Bye bye.
