    "Very Pleased!"

    January 23, 2011  |   By ron9598

    Version: AVS Video Editor 5.2.1.170

    Pros

LOTS of features in this! Nice transitions, effects, add additional video/audio tracks, etc. Individual tracks lock to keep them in place once you're satisfied. Feature rich title editor. The program is well laid out, similar to Pinnacle or PwrDir.

    Cons

I have nothing to put here. I ran a couple of edit sessions w/about 3 minutes total video each. The program worked flawlessly on both on my Dell Vostro 200.

    Summary

I was really surprised. Burned a DVD for each video - it worked flawlessly. I have been using several AVS audio programs for some time- and have been very satisfied with those. A very affordable unlimited license option allows access to all of their stuff, including any updates for the PC that is licensed.

The black border mentioned on playback on another review is caused by editing 4:3 ratio stuff with the 16:9 setting. I also did not notice any loss of video quality from the original.

I did e-mail tech support with a registration question and had an answer back in less than a day.

If your computer has the basic hardware profile to handle video editing in the first place, I'd certainly recommend giving this a try. Lot's of classy features for no more than it costs.

"No support available and the software doesn't work"

    January 14, 2011  |   By tdelcavo

    Version: AVS Video Editor 5.2.1.170

    Pros

How can I say nothing with 10 characters?

    Cons

The instructions are terrible. The software crashes and there is no support available. I sent an email to their tech support days ago with no acknowledgement and no response.

    Summary

they bit off more than they can chew. The software is ambitious, but does not perform.

"Mediocre Video Editing Software for the inexperienced"

    January 1, 2011  |   By talberry2

    Version: AVS Video Editor 5.2.1.170

    Pros

Easy interface to quickly import video files and merge. Many features available to add to videos.

    Cons

Not extremely use friendly. Videos imported lose quality. When a video is produced in this program it either creates a large black border around the video on Youtube or becomes laggy if you change the aspect ratio. Their help menu is poor.

    Summary

Basically, if you are broke and just want *something* to put your videos together or edit them, and are not worried about video quality I'd get this. Otherwise, I'd suggest to find another program. This one is pretty crappy.
